My battle with Krokopatra – take 1
So I made it through to the end of the Temple of Storms and faced the mighty Krokopatra and her royal queens’ guard! Unfortunately I didn’t fare so well in this fight… There is a very important lesson here though – my key mistake was actually playing too offensively against a storm boss. Storm bosses are notorious for heavy damage, so I should have played more conservatively – namely, on the turn before I got blasted I chose a meteor strike over a spirit armor spell, even though I KNEW meteor strike wasn’t going to defeat the queen. Poor choice, and I paid the price for it.
Let this be a lesson to you – shields and heals when going up against a storm boss!!
The Temple of Storms – Test of Aptitude
After my thrilling victory over the Son of Storms and the completion of the ‘Test of Strength’, I was then sent into the ‘Test of Aptitude’. Now, to be fair, Fabricated Americans are not historically known for their keen problem solving abilities, so taking that into account I think I did OK here… That last puzzle was a tricky one though!
Defeating Krokopatra, Test of Strength, part 2…
Still adventuring in the Temple of Storms, I have to defeat more bosses to get to the Son of Storms, defeating him to win the Test of Strength. I liked the progressively stronger bosses, it was a nice challenge and I’m glad I had my potion bottles full, I was pretty low on health when I finally got to Son of Storms.
Defeating Krokopatra – Part 1, the test of strength
In the Temple of Storms there are many trials before facing the dreaded Krokopatra. The first test is the Test of strength, defeating a line of bosses before facing the Prince of Storms… This is the first part of that battle, a fight which I win easily! Well, maybe not ‘easily’, but I do win. Yay me!!
My 100th post!!!
So here it is, my 100th blog post here! 100 seems like it’s a lot, but also really just the beginning, and I’m really excited to be here!
So I was definitely going to do a great video blog post here to celebrate the event, but I had a minor technical difficulty. OK, not so much a ‘technical difficulty’ as ‘forgot to charge the batteries’ in my video camera. That’s also why there is no amazing Krokopatra battle video as well. Fear not, though, loyal fans – the camera is charging now, and will be ready to go later today when I get out of work!
So what’s next for everyone’s favorite furry orange monster? Well, lots more blogging, hopefully the end of Krokotopia and the beginning of new adventures in Marleybone, lots more ‘Daring Adventures’ with some surprises in store there, plenty of discussion of Wizard 101 and then – GASP! – discussion of other games!
That’s right – I, the Ditto Wizard, am starting to work on expanding my blog to incorporate other family-friendly multiplayer games. Not entirely sure the direction it’s taking yet, and Wizard 101 is still my #1 favorite game ever, but there are more and more games coming into this area and I’d like to try some of them and share my thoughts and ideas about them, so look for that coming up soon and I hope everyone enjoys it!
Finally – thanks to all the literally hundreds (maybe thousands? Don’t really know, it’s the internet after all..) of people out there who enjoy my blog and my videos and follow me on YouTube and twitter and give me tips and great feedback! Thanks always to the awesome Ravenwood Radio who helped me bring my fun Daring Adventures to life! And finally, thanks to Kingsisle for making a fun, wonderful, and family friendly game that inspires such great imagination and wonderful community who openly embrace a furry orange Fabricated American like me!!! I am a lucky monster!!
See you in the spiral!! PLOX!!

The Daring Adventures of Ditto – Episode 7
Ditto’s Video Blog – August 1st!
August already? How did that happen I wonder? Ah well – I was able to pull myself away from many busy things today and do a quick video blog – no game play video yet, I’m still working on that, but I do a bunch of thank you’s and ‘shout outs’ I guess you would call them… Anyway, enjoy…
PLOX
Just goofing around…
Hi everybody, it’s Ditto… Well I’ve been really busy this week, but I’ve got a new video blog coming really soon! Until then though, a friend of mine took a video of me trying to blow up a balloon to the size of my head! I did pretty good – not sure I got it quite that big, it was tough work! I think it was probably the biggest I’ve ever blown up a balloon though – what do you think?
Also, I want to thank Jasmine Stormblood and Jordan Dreameyes and Boris Titancaster for all including me in really nice artwork for Ravenwood Radio! That was really nice and makes Ditto very happy! Thank you!!
Safety First!!
I got a message on Facebook yesterday – someone who said they are a big fan, who really liked my videos and my Daring Adventures on Ravenwood Radio. He said that he had a present for me, that he would give me 1000 crowns because he was such a big fan!!
Now of course I was very excited about this – I just bought my beautiful house in game, which was very expensive, and I don’t have a lot of gold left. 1000 crowns, well that a lot of money, that would buy me a lot of nice things, right? And well, if he was a fan of my blog, it’s not so strange to think he might want to give me something nice, right?
Then he asked me some more questions. Like what my account information was in Wizard 101, so he could ‘get the crowns to me’. He also asked me where I lived in real life. He asked me how old I was. That’s when I realized that maybe he wasn’t trying to give me something nice at all. That’s when I knew that he was probably a bad person.
To be fair, maybe this person was really just a very nice person and was very curious about things and didn’t mean any harm – but I couldn’t possibly know that, and neither can you, so you have to be safe, because that’s a scary thing about the internet; people aren’t always who say say they are, and people who seem really nice can actually be pretty awful.
So, if someone who you meet online, in game, on Facebook, or whatever – even someone who has been talking to you or chatting with you for a while – asks you for any kind of personal information, like an account name or a password, or where you live, or your phone number, you need to be really careful. If you’re a younger person – as I know some of my readers are – you should really tell someone older, like a parent, etc… before you give out any kind of information like that. This isn’t just for younger kids, though – a lot of grownups have given out important information to ‘friends’ on the internet that got them into trouble as well, so everyone should be careful.
Just a little friendly advice from your furry neighborhood Fabricated American, because I think everybody who comes here and reads my blog and watches my videos and likes listening to my Daring Adventures is really great, and I appreciate every single one of you!!
House decorating!
So I’ve been decorating my new house with all of the various housing items I had in my backpack and dorm room. It seemed like a ton of stuff, but my house and surrounding area are so big, it’s like I’ve barely even started!
the good thing is that all my pets – other than my faithful sidekick Madame Jasmine – are all happily settled into their new home. Some wanted to roam about outside, others liked the indoors, and one – my spooky little yellow ghost – wanted to hang out in my spooky cave area under my mini-Krokosphynx.
So here are a few quick pictures of my new house after I’ve spent some time decorating – can’t wait to have a housewarming!! Of course I have no IDEA how to actually DO a housewarming, but it must be on a blog somewhere, right?
- Me in my bedroom with my cute – but shy – fairy pet.
- Me standing in my new ‘crafting area’…
- Me in the front yard of my Krokotopian villa with my Krok pet
- Overlook view of my beautiful Krokotopian Villa
- The front room of my Krokotopian Villa
Ditto’s First House!!
So I did it – thanks to handy advice and saving all my gold coins, I was able to purchase the large desert villa!! It’s AMAZING – it’s got a Krokosphynx, and a pretty waterfall, and a hidden cave and all kinds of great things!! It was expensive, but totally worth it!! I have to decorate it and put my pets in there and then I can figure out how to invite people over!!
Is it coming to an end so soon??
So I just fought my way through the karanahn barracks and defeated a whole slew of Krokotopian princes in the karanahn palace, and the ghost of Krokhotep has given me a most dire message:
It’s time for my FINAL task! The last thing I have to do in Krokotopia – face Krokopatra! Part of me is very excited, while another part of me feels a kind of melancholy, as I’ve been battling in the tombs and temples of Krok for so long it almost feels like a second home… I do plan on taking a bunch of video of my final assault on Krokopatra, so stay tuned for that! I have no idea what I’m facing but I’m sure it will be epic!
Of course I still have so much left to do for Headmaster Ambrose, and I’m very excited to be headed off onto my next adventure in the Spiral – I believe Marleybone comes next, if I’m not mistaken. I’ve only seen pictures so far, and of course I’ve talked with many fine Marleybonian gentlemen in Krokotopia as well, so I’m sure it won’t be completely alien…
And as for Krokotopia? I think I will purchase a large home here before I go, so I can always return to the windswept sands and adventure I’ve come to love so much…
Finally, I have long been wondering – there is a teleport pad and some obelisks in the oasis, over by the Bazaar area, that looks like it goes somewhere:
I haven’t been able to activate it – I assume there is some secondary quest line I might have missed? I try to be very thorough, but it’s certainly possible I missed something – it’s also possible that it’s a school-specific quest line that I don’t have access to. Does anyone know? I’m one of those ‘need to finish everything’ kind of players, so I don’t want to head off to Marleybone without knowing where this leads…
Ditto’s vBlog – July 19th, 2010…
Just me, furry orange monster Ditto, chatting about stuff. I’m loving my new spells and having a ton of fun in Krokotopia right now…
The Daring Adventures of Ditto – Episode 6!
Episode 6, where our intrepid explorers fight their way deep into the forests of Grizzleheim to do battle with the terrible Frithir, consider their ‘Family Friendly’ rating and it’s many implications, discuss the pros and cons of burritos versus pizza, and come face to face with none other than… The GRENDEL!!! Never have our daring duo faced such a terrible foe! Will they survive? Tune in and see!
This episode of the Daring Adventures of Ditto was originally played on Ravenwood Radio Episode 20 – thanks to Ravenwood Radio for their dedicated support of Fabricated Americans everywhere!!

Plox!
Meteor Strike = Fast Forward button!
Had a really good time in-game this weekend, and I noticed something really cool…
Everyone knows that I had been on an epic quest to reach level 22 and the coveted pyromancer spell ‘Meteor Strike’. Well, I got Meteor Strike (See previous blog posts about that awesome and fun adventure) but it seemed to take FOREVER! Really, I think it took me a couple weeks to push from level 20 to level 22, getting all the way through the level 20 Grizzleheim quests and deep into Krokotopia before finally reaching my goal. Since level 22, though, BOY have things changed…
Since hitting level 22 I was just questing like crazy in Krokotopia, and I realized that things are going SO much faster – the fights are so quick now that I can take out all enemies in one spell, and since I hit level 26 and Professor Falmea taught me WyldFire, it’s even more awesome. I also picked up Satyr from Professor Wu (Or is it moo? Tee hee…) and totally restructured my deck.
My typical fight now consists of Wyldfire, fire blade, Jasmine’s fire blade (they stack!) and a Meteor Strike – that’s averaging over 800 damage I believe, so even most of the Krok bosses fall to that combo! I had a fun group over the weekend – a necromancer and a life wizard – who ended up just joining me in fights and tossing an occasional heal while I took out the baddies – I was SO excited!! They were cheering me on, too! I had so much fun, and I’ve made it well into the Tomb of Storms – completed the barracks last night, but I know I’ve got lots more to go.
More fun this weekend was pets – I got a yellow ghost and a life banshee to drop in the tomb of storms, I think both from the Ahnik king… I like them both, though of course neither would replace my trusty Madame Jasmine. Now I REALLY need a house so I can let all my pets roam free…
One last thing to mention – there was a young wizard who was following me around yesterday for a while and cheering me on and doing parts of the ‘narrator’ bits from ‘The Daring Adventures of Ditto’… I wanted to say THANK YOU!! I laughed out loud and it just made me feel really good. I hope you had fun watching my many epic battles and cheering as my enemies fell before me, defeated by Madame Jasmine’s mighty roar… (or cluck, as the case may be)
So there’s more video coming, just not a lot of time right now – I’ll get posting it tonight or tomorrow morning, promise!! For now it’s off to work, where I shall dream of once again adventuring in the spiral…
Defeating Krokhotep!
So last night I didn’t think I would be ITS (In The Spiral) for long, as I had some things to do and wanted to watch ‘River Monsters’ – GREAT show, by the way.
Well, as often happens with the awesomeness that is Wizard 101, I ended up playing WAAAAY too long, because I got obsessed with completing the Krokosphynx! Well after a few hours, I finally found myself face to face with the dreaded Krokohotep!! And yeah – took him out! It was a great fight – not on video, sadly, since I wasn’t planning on playing that long or finishing that quest line, but anyway, I have defeated Krokohotep and I’m now level 24! It was a very fun night – I have one more side-quest to finish in the Krokosphynx, I think (Like Leesha and Steve and Christina Icedreamer always say – finish ALL your quests!) and then I’ll move on to whatever dreaded evil comes next…
Here is another video of me battling in the Krokophynx – it has nothing to do with last night’s adventures and was taken before I hit level 22, but it’s kind of funny how tired and annoyed I’m getting after fighting wave after wave of these glacial avengers and still not leveling…
Ditto fighting Ice Avengers…
So I already posted my great video of hitting level 22 and getting meteor strike, but there were some great battles before that and I figured I’d post a few…
Also, while I’m posting, THANKS YOU so much for all the great feedback on my Daring Adventures episode on Ravenwood Radio Episode 20!! It was so much fun to do and the Narrator really seems to be getting the hang of things… I’m glad people liked it, I’ll be posting the Daring Adventures audio track once Ravenwood Radio posts the Episode 20 Podcast..
Ditto’s Video Blog – July 12, 2010 – Introducing Madame Jasmine!
So here is my video blog this week – I have a big fun announcement in here, it’s very exciting for me 🙂 I found a nice soft cuddly Madame Jasmine crimsonzilla dinosaur all for myself – in real life. She’s very cute, there will be many more pictures of her I’m sure.
Other games to talk about…
Since starting this blog I’ve been following a lot of other good gaming resources, not just Wizard 101 stuff. I don’t have a video to post today and not much to talk about since my big ‘Level 22 announcement’ earlier this week, so I figured I’d talk about some other gaming stuff I happened across this week… Let me know if you like it….
Of course I have to start with the big Wizard 101 news!!: The July update has arrived, and with it the first (now non-mandatory) steps towards the wonders of Celestia!!! Plus Grizzleheim house crafting, a quest line written by some old rock and roll person, and UNICORNS!!! NOOOOOO!!! Anything but that!!!! Ahem… sorry about that.
Age of Conan Briefly Opens Expansion to all Players: Current players can hop straight on over to the land of Khitai while those with inactive accounts will receive ten days of free play in both the expansion and original content.
Blizzard will not Require Real Names: Here’s yet another big announcement in the ‘blizzard-realNames’ saga. I have to admit, I saw this coming… In a move that is sure to generate just as much discussion as the initial decision itself, Mike Morhaime, co-founder and CEO of Blizzard Entertainment, has released a statement that says “real names will not be required for posting on official Blizzard forums.”
Blizzard Discusses Making WoW Free: Here’s something of direct interest to F2P Game fans… Speaking to PC Gamer at their studios in Irvine, California, World of Warcraft’s lead designer, Tom Chilton, explained that “at some point, it may not make sense for us to have a subscription fee.”
Guild Wars 2 Death to be an Experience: And why am I excited about Guild Wars? NO UNICORNS!! Also, Guild Wars 2 players will enter a “downed mode” state, similar to near death states in Borderlands. If players manage to defeat the attacking enemy while downed (using four class-based “downed mode” abilities), they will rally to their feet, free to continue adventuring. Sweet!
Final Fantasy XIV Beta Begins Saturday: Last week, Square Enix revealed Final Fantasy XIV would hit stores in late-September but would not lock down a date for the anticipated PC beta test phase of the game. Earlier today, Square Enix revealed the test is scheduled to begin this weekend.
Multiplayer Combat in Star Wars: It’s Star Wars, and there’s a video – need I say more?? Seriously…
TCOS Shutting Down?: This doesn’t surprise me much, seeing as playing TCoS was the single worst MMO experience of my furry orange life.
WoW Cataclysm Class & Mastery Update: another WoW article. Not sure why they get so much press – this is just a small niche title, isn’t it? Anyway, for people into that sort of thing, there are lots of changes for talents to make talent trees that matter and let you see the impact of your decisions quickly.
Ditto reaches Level 22!!
So ti has been a long time coming, but my wizard, Digby Hexcrafter, has reached level 22 as a pyromancer! Of course level 22 seems an odd level to celebrate, but at level 22 all young pyromancers get….

Yes, Meteor Strike, which allows me to blast ALL my foes into a fiery oblivion all at once instead of blowing them up one at a time with Sunbird. 345ish damage base, but with a few well placed damage buffs I can increase that significantly. It’s even more fun to use it against ice school foes – you can almost hear a frightened little ‘meep’ as the heavens open and giant fireballs rain down upon them…
So here is my video of the whole journey, from level up through my first test of the spell – hope you enjoy it and see you in the Spiral!! PLOX!!
The joys and frustrations of being a Wiz 101 vBlogger…
So I’m back in my beloved Krokotopia after spending a week or so in Grizzleheim fighting deadly Grendels and spiders and I think there were some chickens in there too… so I defeat mister big scary grendel boss – a VERY hard fight – and then turn in my quest to mister ‘Oh you’re way too young to talk to our king please try again later’ bear warrior person. And of course, I STILL haven’t proven myself worthy to see the king and basically get a ‘thanks for visiting and taking care of that pest problem, don’t let the door hit ya on your way back to Wizard City’….
So like I said, I’m now back in Krokotopia, in the depths of the Krokosphynx, and I’m fighting these very scary ice warriors. I get done with one fight, two fights, and then notice – I’m almost at level 22!! I’m just one, maybe two fights away from hitting level 22 and getting – wait for it…. – METEOR STORM!!!!
Of course I don’t’ have my video camera and I’m not playing on my regular computer, and I of COURSE want to capture this pivotal moment in heroic Digby’s career! So now, mere points away from making this milestone level, I have to log off and wait until either tonight or tomorrow to play again so I can tape ‘the moment’ and capture myself learning my new spell and using it on some poor unsuspecting unicorns or something.
So stay tuned folks, because Ditto and Madame Jasmine are about to get a whole lot more dangerous and Krokotopia is about to get a bit more singed around the edges…
Ditto’s Video Blog – July First!
OK I’m technically posting this July second but I recorded on the first.. So Happy July and Happy Summer everyone!! I’m kicking of July with a new video blog and a new segment – reader mail!! Because, amazingly enough, I get mail from people who follow my blog or follow my twitter lately. I think it’s great so I try to answer a few. There is one question that maybe all you fine Ravenwood students can help me answer – how do you find a group? I’d like to know that too, really…. Anyway, have a great weekend, here is Ditto’s video blog. PLOX!
The life and times of a Crimsonzilla….
I’ve got more fun footage of Madame Jasmine playing the dance game in the Pet Pavilion. she really loves it so we have a lot of fun playing it together! We’re getting better too, and she loves getting her snacks, she makes the most fun little moves when I feed her. I love a happy Crimsonzilla!!
And speaking of happy and fun, how awesome was Ravenwood Radio last night? Leesha really scored in her interview with Kingsisle and got me way more excited about Celestia!! I mean seriously – some of those new creatures were awesome, and a squid mount? Seriously!! I know they didn’t come out and SAY we could get a squid mount, but those pictures really made things look amazingly cool!! Very excited about it now, definitely. I’m very curious what kinds of new pets we’ll see, too, and I’ve got to keep playing more so I can get my level up high enough to get in there and have some fun adventures when it opens!!
And speaking of adventures – Hope everyone is enjoying the new narrator! My new narrator is definitely getting pretty creepy lately isn’t she? Sending me and Madame Jasmine deep into spooky woods to collect crazy biting plants and now I’ve got to go hunt some scary forest demons and collect their wings? I can’t imagine what she has in store for me next but I’m sure it will be both daring and adventurous… thanks for everyone who enjoys the show and sends me notes and stuff, it makes me happy that people are liking my Daring Adventures…
Madame Jasmine loves to dance!!
So we tried the new ‘dance game’ in the Pet Pavilion, kind of a ‘Dance Dance Revolution’ for pets. We did OK for a first try, but Madame Jasmine just wants to keep playing – she LOVES to dance!! You should see her go! I’ve had to start reminding her when we’re out adventuring that fighting a rank 4 boss and his minion is NOT a good time to ‘get her groove on’…
