Ditto gets the key to the… uh… fountain?

After fighting many many water-matons, Ditto collects all the power cores to activate the fountain and get a special key – but then there are the flanges! Won’t someone think of the flanges??

Ditto Needs Power Cores!

Deep in the Science Center Ditto needs three power cores to get a key from a fountain to unlock the Conservatory. I’m not making this up. To get these cores, Ditto needs to defeat water-matons… Lots and lots of water-matons. Let the fun begin!

Carl the Camera-Bear is back!

Hi everybody, it’s Carl.  I’m back with a few new jokes… Hope you like them 🙂

The Jokes:

Q: If two’s company and three a crowd, what are four and five?
A: Nine!

Q: What is a bugs’ favorite sport?
A: Cricket!

Q: Why couldn’t the pirate play cards?
A: Because he was sitting on the deck!

Q: Why do seagulls fly over the sea?
A: Because if they flew over the bay, they’d be bagels!

Ditto and the Towers of Power

Ditto has finished connecting the power and now must power on the Galvanic Towers around Engineer Montgomery’s campsite!  Turning on all those galvanic towers makes my fur all tingly and stand up on end!

Ditto in the Science Center – questing and dueling!

Ditto is doing quests in the Science Center – he turns in a couple quests, then gets sent out to find engineering tools.  In the middle of searching for the tools, he is attacked by vicious aqua-bots (Not to be confused with the amazing Aquabats!)   Ditto is almost done with the Science Center, and very nearly finished with Celestia!

Ditto is turning on Galvanic Towers – Is that smart surrounded by salt water?

Ditto is exploring the Science Center now, and there is lots of science stuff… like these big sparky galvanic towers, for example!  You know, it’s probably not all that safe to be playing with big electrical things surrounded by salt water, but we won’t think about that too much – Ditto got the job done with a minimum of singed fur…

And don’t forget Ditto and Chip’s great ‘Play Outside‘ video – it’s definitely worth watching!!

Ditto and Chip Play Outside!

Playing video games is definitely lots of fun, but it’s a lot of fun to do other things too…  See what it takes for Chip to convince Ditto to stop playing his new game and enjoy having fun playing outside!! Playing outside and being active isn’t just fun, it’s really good for you!

Ditto and Chip – Let’s Play Outside!

Transcript:

Ditto is playing Video  Games when Chip comes in

Chip:  Hey Ditto, want to go play outside?

Ditto:  No, me playing a new video game, it’s really fun.  Maybe later, OK?

Chip:  Aw, but it’s the first sunny day we’ve had in a week – wouldn’t it be more fun to ply outside?

Ditto:  Maybe later Chip, OK?  Me playing a game..

Chip:  Aw… Ok.

A few minutes later, Chip has an idea…

Chip:  Hey Ditto, want to try a fun new game?

Ditto:  New game?  Ooh, yeah – what kind of game?

Chip:  It’s a physics-based action game – you need to move your ‘avatar’ properly to play.

Ditto:  Oh that sounds fun!  Me love physics games! What’s the website?

Chip:  There’s no website, this game needs… specialized hardware.  Follow me!

Next scene – Ditto and Chip are outside playing on the swings.

Ditto:  That was pretty clever, Chip – you’re right, this is lots more fun and it’s a really nice day!

Chip:  Yeah, it’s a lot more fun, and healthier too!  Yay!

Ditto:  Yay, wind in my fir, wind in my fur!!

Ditto’s spoiler free Avengers review!

Ditto did make it out to see Avengers over the weekend, like a lot of people did, apparently, and loved the movie – but it was definitely missing something. Here is Ditto’s review of Avengers, from a Fabricated American point of view!

Transcript:

While many people have already said how awesome Avengers is and how Joss Whedon certainly got everything right with his superhero smorgasbord, nobody has yet pointed out the one glaring omission from the film yet. You see, with such an all-star cast of heroes and the obvious re-writing of comic book canon, my big question is this:
Where are the Fabricated Americans?

This movie would have been the perfect vehicle to pull out all the big guns, like Super Grover!! But instead, they decide to give us a pitch-perfect Hulk who regularly steals the scene.

Yes, as written the movie is AMAZING – you have the rock star Tony Stark, the stoic and earnest Agent Coulson, who actually gets a first name in this feature. You have the man out of time, Captain America, with his sense of duty more than enough to make up for his lack of fashion sense. You have Thor, looking like an athletic but angry ken doll, Whedon’s contractually obligated ‘strong female character’ Black widow, AKA Buffy the alien slayer (who is awesome!) and her arrow-slinging partner Hawkeye. Then of course you have ‘The boss’, Nick Fury, whose no-nonsense approach to leadership includes the occasional use of a rocket launcher.

The team is pitted against Thor’s demigod half-brother Loki who is annoyed because Thor gets a better costume than he does (I mean come on – those horns are just so 80s). The movie also pits our heroes against an incredible alien force, which allows for maximum carnage and for each of the heroes to get several great ‘hero moments’ throughout, as well as injecting some serious humor, something Whedon excels at.

Overall I couldn’t recommend this movie enough, though I do genuinely wish they had taken the road less traveled and added a Fabricated hero. Just imagine the awesomeness of Thor being cornered by the enemy, things looking grim, when out of the sky falls Super Grover, taking out the bad guys and being adorable doing it…

Overall I give avengers five our of five pies… No wait, ten out of ten! I like pie!

Ditto’s Video Bloggy Thingy – May The Fourth Be With You!

Well it’s been a while since I’ve done a video bloggy thingy, as I have been working with Chip on safety videos – we hope you like them.  The video we’re currently filming requires a nice sunny day and it has been raining all week and we’ve got to wait to finsih it, so I decided to do a good old fashioned video bloggy thingy, where I talk about Twitter, Wizard1o1, and even a little Pirate101 talk!!  I hope you enjoy!

Transcript:

Good morning everybody, and May the Fourth be with you!  So it has been a while since I’ve done a video bloggy thingy.  Chip has been helping me with more safety videos – we hope you like them.  We’ve got a lot more coming too, plus a review of Avengers that shoud go up today or tomorrow – a Fabricated American’s take on The Avengers….

So what else?  Well, for the Twitter report, I am up to 738 followers!  So cool!  I think I’ll do something fun when I hit 750, and something HUGE when I hit 1000!  I mean, 1000 followers?  Wow!

For Wizard 101 I am still in Celestia, but nearly done (I think) – I’m about half way through the Science Center and still need to do the Crustacean Empire, the Chancel, and the Trial of the Spheres, then it’s off to Zafaria or Wintertusk, I’m not sure yet – maybe I’ll take a vote?

As for the OTHER game, Pirate101, well I… [Sorry, still under NDA] …And you know how fun THAT is!!  I can’t wait to start blogging about my adventures there!

That’s all for this week, stay tuned for lots more videos and fun!  See you in the spiral, either with a wand or on a pirate ship!

Ditto explores the Lunarium! So sparkly!

Finally able to enter the building itself, Ditto and Madame Jasmine are stunned by the huge interior and all the sparkles! It’s so sparkly and shiny! There’s lots to see and, of course, lots to battle as Ditto explores the Lunarium and continues on his quest.

Ditto activates a robot and gets into the Lunarium!

Ditto finally defeats the three guardians holding three pieces of the incantation keeping the Stellar Protector shut down. Ditto returns to Koltan Gloomfane, who gives him the activation code for the out of order Stellar Protector. Ditto activates the protector and gets access to the inner sanctum of the Lunarium… Things are getting very interesting!

A Pirates’ Life for Me!!

That is right, by now I am sure you have heard the big news, that KingsIsle games has announced their brand new family-friendly online game, Pirate101! While I am not allowed to say much about the game, I can say that it is a lot of fun, it is different that Wizard101, but still very familiar! The setting is still The Spiral that we know and love, but it’s a totally new and different way to experience it, with swashbuckling action, majestic flying ships, eerie villains, and lots of great stuff that I don’t think I can actually talk about yet… but I will, as soon as they take off the duct tape… I mean lift the NDA… I will definitely be blogging about Pirate101 alongside all my adventures in Wizard101, so stay tuned, it’s going to be great!

And in case you are worried that Fabricated Americans do not like boats or the water, I give you

Ditto fixes a Robot in the Lunarium… Kinda.

Ditto finds the power core and sensorium in his first fight! With the power core he’s able to power the sentry robot back on, but it still can’t really do much more than tell him to go talk to some other guy, who long ago wove a ‘binding of lethargy’ upon the sentry. (Insert ‘that sounds like my mom/dad/brother/sister/cat on Saturday mornings’ joke here – I did…)

So Ditto talks to this guy, Koltan Gloomfane, who is actually really nice, and would LOVE to help Ditto, but there’s a problem…. Koltan gave the re-activation codes to his three henchmen, with names like Killy McKillsalot, Stabby o’Slashy, and Trogdor the Burninator. Ditto will have to defeat all three to revive that sentry… hmmm, the things they make you do when the warranty expires.

Ditto Enters The Lunarium!

Now that Ditto has completed his quest for the incredible Efreet spell, he is back in Celestia!  Ditto has found all the proper pieces and fixed the Moon Portal, and it ready to enter the Lunarium!  Once through the portal, however, Ditto is confronted with crazy robots run amok!  What can he do to get through and find his way into the inner chambers of The Lunarium?

Ditto Casts Efreet!

After unlocking the power of Efreet and summoning him in DragonSpyre, Ditto is finally ready to control the awesome spell!  Professor Falmea warns Ditto that he should only use the power of Efreet in an emergency, so what does Ditto do?  Go pick a fight in Celestia so he can see what his awesome new spell does!!

Keep your information safe online!

Mister Crimp offers Chip ten thousand points to his favorite online game – but there’s a catch! He’s asking Chip for his account information and other personal info, which isn’t safe! Ten thousand game points is very tempting – will Chip do the right thing?

Chip and Mister Crimp – keep your information safe online.

New Video – Ditto’s New Spell Part 3 – Ditto Summons the Efreet!! #wizard101

After the epic battle to unlock the fire seal, Dalia Falmea teaches Ditto the summoning spell to summon the Efreet, and then sends him to DragonSpyre to learn how to control the massive power of this powerful spell.  (more…)

Ditto’s New Spell – Part 2, the battle with Sothmekhet

Ditto has faced a lot of big battles in Wizard101, and there have been a few he wasn’t quite prepared for. This batted is one of the biggest and the one I was most unprepared for. It was also over 30 minutes long, so I couldn’t post the whole thing – what you see here is an edited 7ish minutes of the beginning and end of the battle. Everything in the middle is pretty similar – buff up, hit Sothmekhet with a fire dragon or helephant, and be disappointed at the overall result.

Ditto’s New Spell part 1 – Called to the Classroom

After making level 58, Ditto is called to the Fire classroom by Professor Falmea!  She has a powerful new spell to teach Ditto – but it’s not so simple!  The power she is trying to tap into is blocked, and Ditto will have to travel to Krokotopia to release the block and set the power of this new fire spell free!

Ditto and Chip talk about online bullying

Chip has a problem – someone said some really mean things about him on Facebook, and he wants to get back at them, so he goes to Ditto for help.  Ditto and Chip talk about the best things to do when someone is being mean to you online.  If someone is bullying you online there are lots of ways to get help, like parents and teachers, moderators and online community representatives.

Ditto fixes the Broken Portal Piece.. next stop – the moon?

At long last Ditto has recovered the final portal piece – but it’s broken!  What’s a monster to do?  Well as your friendly neighborhood Archivist to tell you how to fix the last portal piece, and then plug it in and see what happens!  With the putal humming nicely, where is Ditto off to next?  Is it the moon????

And yes, Ditto was supposed to edit these two videos into one video, but Ditto forgot… so there are two videos and ‘the magic of television’ requires a little help….

New Video – Ditto makes Level 57!! But he broke the last portal piece… #wizard101

While turning in the final portal piece to Leland, Ditto makes level 57!!  And now all I have to do is go to the archivist to figure out how to fix the final portal piece-  I guess I should have been more careful with it!

Interview with Chris Park, A Valley Without Wind

While I was walking around checking out some of the cool independent games, the Arcen Games booth caught my eye, both for the design and the very cool name of the game they were promoting, ‘A Valley Without Wind‘. It was a very cool looking side scroller with nice design, intriguing story, and great mechanics – including lots of different powers like my personal favorite, fire magic!

Luckily for me, Chris Park, the founder and lead developer for Arcen Games, had a few minutes to talk to us about the game and what makes it so very cool in this age of huge extreme hyper-realistic 3D blockbusters.

Monster On The Street Interview with Caroline

Ditto wanted to try something new at PAX East and had the idea to do random ‘Monster On The Street’ interviews with random PAX attendees. Unfortunately, between the crowds, the noise, and the fact that not everyone wants to be interviewed by a furry orange monster, this didn’t work out very well. I did, however, get one interview with a very nice woman named Caroline, who was really great and definitely into it. It was her first time at PAX, and it sounded like she was having a really good time. Thanks to Caroline for being such a good sport!
