Ditto Explores Celestia – A ‘Spot of Bother’…

In my continued explorations of Celestia, I came upon an explorer from Marleybone who told me about a problem with the dome leaking.  You know, the big dome that keeps all the water out and the ‘being alive’ in?  Well, it seems that some of those nasty crustaceans had scampered away with all their sealant, so they couldn’t stop the leaks, and this was – in his own words – a ‘Spot of Bother’.  This measurement seems to be the equivalent of ‘A Peck of Trouble’ when measured on the Whedon scale.  So naturally, since Ditto is a kind and adventurous monster, I will help ou and try to keep the doggies from coming to a wet and mostly oxygen-free fate.  (more…)

Ditto in Celestia – the first duel!

Still getting my bearings in Celestia and I stumble across some nasty crustacean types, and it was definitely a more difficult fight than I was expecting.  My opponents were fire, naturally, and at rank 9 had a pretty high resistance to most of my tricks.  They were hitting me with some pretty big stuff too.  It wasn’t too bad, but it was tougher than I expected – keeps you on your toes, right? (more…)

Ditto exploring Celestia – Oh look, there’s a problem to solve…

So I was exploring more in Celestia and – what a shock – they’re having problems, issues with sabotage and researchers missing, and of course they need my help.  I should be use to this by now, of course, but let’s just think about it for a minute.  It’s a mysterious underwater world, and the explorers are dogs… how did anyone thing this was a good idea? Dogs in the desert is one thing (although if I remember Krokotopia correctly I think they had some issues there too), but underwater?  Really?  The wet fur smell alone would just be…  Oh never mind.

So once again the amazing Digby Hexcrater is asked to save the day, which I couldn’t be happier about – I can’t wait!

Just a quick sightseeing video, because Celestia just looks so amazing!

The Return of Destiny Hexcrafter

At long last, now that I have successfully vanquished Malistaire and am busy exploring the mysteries of Celestia, I have decided to start playing my special project, Destiny Hexcrafter, again.  For anyone who doesn’t know, Destiny is a Necromancer I’m playing who has no gear and no special robes – basically I’m playing her with the robes, wand, and spell deck she got from Headmaster Ambrose.  After playing Digby  for so long, going back to Destiny is very challenging, especially since between the gear and spells I have with Digby he’s practically a super hero.  (more…)

Ditto learns about the Astral Schools!

In his continued explorations of Celestia, Ditto comes across something very exciting – the Astral schools of magic!  That’s right, three brand new schools of magic to learn!!!  (Well, they were brand new a year ago, sure, maybe I’m a little late for the party… )   So join Ditto as he learns about Moon, Sun, Stars, green clovers, and blue diamonds…

New Video – More Celestia Exploration…

Celestia is still incredibly beautiful and awesome, and I’m still exploring a lot.  One strange thing – Prospector Zeke is here!  He really gets around – I think he’s a bit spooky when he does this..

Ditto Enters Celestia!!

Celestia was released about a year ago, in October 2010, and finally, in October 2011, I have made it into that amazing undersea world myself!  Wizard 101 for me has never been about being ‘first’ to do anything, so getting to Celestia a year after release is just fine for me, even preferable in some ways.

Paige Moonshade’s amazing Halloween Maze!!

Recently I was invited to explore a Halloween maze created by none other than the mistress of house decorating, Paige Moonshade!  For this maze she truly outdid herself!  It encompasses three big houses and her dorm room, a graveyard, many spooky creatures, ghostly plants, and some amazing scenes!  The goal is to make your way through the houses and spooky scenes by finding the next portal that takes you to the next area.  Paige has done a fantastic job of guiding you and blocking off certain areas to keep you on track, but she also makes sure it’s a fun maze, with tricks and turns and lots of great scenery!  I know I got turned around a few times!  (more…)

Derek Hexflame and the Thirteenth Key – Part 6 – Final Chapter

Derek Hexflame and the Thirteenth Key

– Part 6 –

Derek slowly opened his eyes, but he couldn’t immediately make sense of what he saw.  The room was lit with a dim flickering purplish glow and he could hear a low talking or moaning coming from somewhere, but it was indistinct.  His hands and feet were bound by something cold and sharp – soul chain, most likely.

“Boss.” he heard in a low whisper.  He turned his head slightly and saw Fred’s eyes looking at him from under a wooden table.  The look of relief on the dragon’s face when Derek nodded in his direction was absolute. (more…)

New Video – Ditto Defeats Malistaire – The Epilogue! #wizard101

With Malistaire defeated and The Spiral saved, Professor Drake opened a portal to Headmaster Ambrose’s office.  Now, when I saw this, my immediate question was ‘Why couldn’t he just do that to get INTO Malistaire’s chamber instead of battling like thirty bosses and big elite bad guys?’  It’s kind of like Gandalf showing up on that giant eagle to save Frodo and Sam at the end of Lord of the Rings – if he had the ability to do THAT the whole time, what not just fly INTO Mordor and drop the ring into Mt. Doom from like 10,000 feet?

ANYWAY, I got back to the Headmaster’s office and he was all thankful and told me how cool I was, gave me some vegan chocolate chip cookies (Headmaster Ambrose definitely seems like a vegan to me…) and then told me to take a well-deserved break and maybe even go to a few classes…The horror!! Not to worry though, because less than twenty seconds later, he hands me the key to Celestia and tells me there’s trouble afoot, and once again he needs my help.  Well, a Pyromancer’s work is never done, so coming up very soon…. Ditto goes to Celestia!!!

The Final Battle – Ditto Faces Malistaire!!

After working our way through The Great Spire and facing countless foes (Well, they weren’t that tough to count, but they were really hard to defeat!) we finally face Malistaire himself, and it was awesome!!

Malistaire’s brother, Professor Cyrus Drake, shows up with the spirit of Malistaire’s wife, Sylvia!  They try to talk him out of his mad scheme, but he won’t here of it, banishing them both with a wave of his hand!  It’s all up to us then, so with Fallon, James Lifecaller, and Elijah Lightthief at my side, we head in to face the dreaded master of dark magic and stop him from summoning the monstrous Dragon Titan.  (more…)

New Video – Ditto Monster interviews Singer/Songwriter Jenna Greene!

This past weekend I had a wonderful opportunity to sit down with an amazing performer, Jenna Greene of Greene Lady Music.  Jenna is a singer and songwriter, as well as a wonderful harpist and all around beautiful person who has dedicated her life to music, love, and using her gifts to make the world a better place. In the interview I ask her about her music, about her first CD, ‘Crossroads’, and about her upcoming project, ‘Wild Earth Child’.  Jenna also wrote a song just for me – it’s so wonderful, I was very excited and happy to hear it!! I think you’ll love it 🙂

As I’ve posted a few times now, Jenna is currently trying to raise funds for her next CD through Kickstarter, and as of today there’s only one week lef and she’s still looking for additional sponsors. Please feel free to link this post or this video and spread the word to help Jenna realize her goal and her dream of getting her new CD finished!

This was a really fun interview to do, and I hope you enjoy watching it and even if you can’t help sponsor the new CD, please share this video with others to help spread the word and get ‘Wild Earth Child’ finished!

Ditto Faces Malistaire, Part 4 – knock, knock…

Ditto and his merry band make their way through the labyrinth that is The Great Spire, and come upon Malistaire’s very interesting security system…  First, the team has to split up to fight two different groups of opponents that are keeping the portal to Malistaire’s office sealed, and then once through that portal, we need to fight a group of scary Soul Servants, while Malistaire hovers in the background doing something very naughty, I’m certain…

Overall, I love this quest and want to do it more – it’s difficult, yes (as it should be), but it’s also really well plotted out, and every fight seems to make sense, you feel like you’re progressing and undoing a lot of the things Malistaire has done before you…

Tomorrow – the big battle!!  Ditto (and his awesome and very capable team) and Malistaire!!

Ditto Faces Malistaire – Part 3

We moved further into the Great Spire and faced the Gurtok Piercer, a giant ice boss that looked like a frosty Helephant, and two ice minions.  I don’t believe this fight was required, but apparently these bosses drop really good loot.  This was a tricky fight, possibly because of all the tower shields that were getting thrown, lowering our damage output. I do get some solid hits in with Fire Dragon, and the final blow was my Fire Dragon Damage Over Time, so I felt pretty good about that.

More great adventures in Malistaire’s Lair tomorrow, and the final battle (All nearly 14 minutes of it) will be posted on Wednesday, just in time for the Ravenwood Radio 50th episode live broadcast!!

Ditto Faces Malistaire, Part 2 – Fire Fight!

Ditto and his team head deeper into the Great Spire and face their first fight, a team of fire enemies.  This is the first time I really see Fallon in action, and wow… I’m a pyromancer and even my mind was blown at her damage output…

Needless to say, the fight was a lot shorter than I imagined it would be against enemies of that level, and we were victorious.  After this battle, I was far less worried about our chances against Malistaire.

After the fight we headed up this cool giant elevator – I didn’t get much video, but it was really cool!  The Great Spire is amazing!

Ditto Faces Malistaire – Part 1

Part 1 of my epic Malistaire battle – I meet up with Fallon, James Lifecaller, and Elijah Lightthief at Dragons’ Roost and head deep into The Great Spire to face our destiny!!!  Don’t worry, there’s LOTS more video to come – I’m still editing and uploading.  I’ll probably post the first duel video today too…

Derek Hexflame and the Thirteenth Key – Part 5

Derek Hexflame and the Thirteenth Key

– Part 5 –                              Read Part 4

“Well, if they didn’t know we were here before…” Derek said, walking into the dismal, fetid Sunken City.

“You are nothing if not subtle, boss…  I’m pretty sure they heard that in Mooshu.”

“So what are the odds he put his strongest construct right here at the entrance?” Derek asked, peering around a stone corner carefully.

“About the same odds as us winning the lottery.”  Fred said, his tongue darting quickly in and out, sensing the area around them. “And boss – we don’t play the lottery…”

Derek and Fred slipped silently through the deserted streets of Sunken City, a foggy, dimly lit  cavern in which Grubb and his minions were imprisoned years before.  The place was a maze of crumbled stone towers and twisted, nightmarish trees, while an unearthly wind howled through the cavern in a chorus of moans that made Derek’s hair stand on end.

“Cheerful place.” Fred said in a dry whisper.  “I can’t wait to see what they put on the tourism brochures.”

“Shhh.” Derek hissed between gritted teeth.  “We’ve got company.”

Around the corner a trio of ghostly figures stood in a semi-circle, guarding the road to a tall tower that appeared somewhat less dilapidated than the buildings around it.  The shades floated a foot above the ground and shimmered with a blue-purple glow that seemed to radiate pure malice.

“Death guardians, and not the cheap ones.” Derek said.  “Now we know what Harold is doing here.”

“You think this is him?” Fred asked, once again perched on Derek’s shoulder.

“Yeah, Harold always did keep the best cards and constructs for himself.  I suspected it with the hydra, but these three… bad mojo, I can feel it.”

“We can take ‘em.” Fred said, puffing out his scaly chest.

“Sure, we could take them, but they’d beat us half to death and everyone in Sunken City would know were were here.  I think it’s time for the subtle approach.”

“Um, boss, you don’t HAVE a subtle approach.” Fred said, nervously shifting his feet.

“Well, sort of subtle…  Trust me, I saw this in a movie once.” Derek said, and he started moving his hands through the air, his eyes closed in concentration.  Trails of red-orange energy began to flow from his fingertips as he murmured a complex chant.

“Why do I get more nervous every time you say ‘trust me’?  And what’s a ‘movie’?” Fred said, flying a few feet back from his master.

On the street in front of the shades, a lone fire cat appeared, flicking it’s flame-covered tail high in the air and walking back and forth.  Fred looked at Derek, who was still deep in concentration, his hands shaking and small beads of sweat appearing on his forehead.  As expected, the shades headed right for the fire cat construct, with dark bolts of magic shooting from their shrouded hands.

As soon as the shades got within striking distance of the fire cat, Derek slammed his hands shut, making Fred jump a foot in the air. The ground turned molten, glowing a bright firey orange, and a single fin, as tall as the shades, passed through it as if something huge was swimming just below the surface.  A huge mouth erupted from the molten earth, right underneath the shades, and then massive red jaws slammed shut around them, sinking back into the lava.  The shades were nowhere to be found.

“What was that??” Fred asked, staring at the empty street.  Derek shook his head a few times and ran his hand through his sweat-matted hair.

“A new modificaiton to the lava shark spell, I’ve been tinkering with it a little in my spare time.” Derek said, then shook his head.  “It takes a lot of mana, though, and only works that well on incorporeal beings.  If Grubb had more solid constructs out here, it wouldn’t have worked.”

“Good to know. Now what – just go ahead and knock on the door?” Fred asked, flapping around Derek.

“In a manner of speaking…” Derek said, and headed toward the tall center tower at the end of the narrow road.  “But first, let’s see just what we’re up against.”

___

“You would think there would be more guards, more constructs.” Fred said, flapping nervously.

“Yes, I would think that..” Derek said, slipping ahead slowly, alert to anything.  “This isn’t making sense – those shades were powerful, but not boss level – Grubb couldn’t have thought they were enough to keep us out…”

“Maybe he’s not trying to keep ‘us’ out, boss…” said Fred quietly.  “We still don’t know if anyone knows we’re coming.  The Gobbler, the Hydra, those Shades – they could have been general ‘keep out’ signs, to keep the random passerby from stumbling upon his nefarious schemes.”

“I know, that’s what worries me.  I think I’m starting to understand what’s happening, but if I’m right something still doesn’t fit.  It’s like there’s a piece of the puzzle that’s missing, and that one piece is what makes the picture make sense…” Derek said, carefully walking towards Grubb’s tower.  “We need to find that piece of the puzzle, Fred.  Let’s hope it’s in that tower.”

“And let’s hope that tower isn’t a trap…” Fred added, flapping beside Derek.

“And what do you think the odds of that are, old friend?” Derek said with an uncomfortable smile.  “Since breakfast today, what hasn’t been a trap?”

Fred sighed.  “Well aren’t we mister sunshine.” Fred said quietly, puffing a smoke ring at Derek. “So let’s get it over with, then…”

The tower loomed above them both, the massive wooden door looking ancient, battered, and charred in some places.  Derek focused energy into his rings, and a glittering blue-silver shield surrounded him, a mystical shield effective against all but the strongest magics.  He gripped an onyx want in his right hand and pushed the huge door open on creaking iron hinges, crouching low as he peered into the gloom.

“How many Fred?” Derek asked, his eyes not yet adjusted to the gloom.

“We should get out of here, Derek…” Fred whispered nervously.  “Something’s wrong.”

“What?  How many?” Derek asked, moving slowly forward.  “Too many?”

“None… Derek, stop, there’s nobody in there…” Fred shouted, but it was too late.  As soon as Derek crossed the threshold of the tower, a lot of things happened very fast.  There was a rushing of wind and the ground began to shake.  Derek’s shield was stripped away by the bitter, howling wind, and the tower began to shake violently, then began to crumble.

“Fred, get out!” Derek shouted and pointed his wand, hitting Fred with a gust of wind that pushed him out of the tower just as the great stone blocks began to fall all around him.

Once the earthquake spell subsided Fred flew around the piles of rubble that were all that remained of Grubb’s tower.  The dragon called out for Derek, coughing as he flew through the dust and debris, looking for any sign of his master.  As the dust settled,  Fred saw a glimmer of red and gold and orange and darted to the place, seeing Derek laying on the ground, eyes closed, surrounded by huge stones and rubble.

“Boss!” he cried, landing on Derek’s chest and trying to wake him.  “Boss?” he said, shaking Derek gently.

Derek Hexflame didn’t move…

New Video – Ditto’s Video Bloggy Thingy September 27, 2011

Here it is, my Video Bloggy Thingy for this week – I have been a very busy monster, but I think things will be a little less crazy now (hopefully)  and I will have more videos coming.  I’ve still got to plan the Malistaire duel, it looks like I’ll be able to get it done this week (yay!) .  I can’t wait! I have another surprise coming up soon, too, with some help from a friend – just need to get that filmed as well 🙂

Jotun falls… and so does Ditto’s camera!

So I decided to try my skills against Jotun this morning – it was kind of a last minute thing because I wanted to play more Wizard 101 but the quests I was on in the game – Jotun and Malistaire – I wanted to make sure I got on video.  I set up and headed into Grizzleheim and made my way deep into the Hall of Valor and faced not only this massive 9000 health storm boss, but also his brothers and some red-shirt minion who I immediately felt bad for. Derek Hexflame and the Thirteenth Key, Part 4

Derek Hexflame and the Thirteenth Key

– Part 4 –

“Maybe Harold DID get his hands on the key.” Derek said as they headed through the commons again.  “And they grabbed him to keep him from going to Ambrose with it.  It makes sense, but barely.  And who grabbed him?”

“Uh, Boss, I thought we were keeping a low profile?” Fred said, gripping on to the seat with all twenty claws and his tail. (more…)

Derek Hexflame and the Thirteenth Key – Part 3

Derek Hexflame and the Thirteenth Key

– Part 3 – (Read Part 2)

“Well that went better than I expected.” Fred said, flapping around Dereks’ head as they walked across the brightly lit commons.  “She barely even tried to kill us on sight.”

“That was all for appearances – she knew that spell wouldn’t hurt us.  She knows something is up, something bad, but she didn’t want to appear too helpful, she has a reputation to maintain.”

“Do you think the Librarian really has the key?” Fred asked, agitated again? (more…)

Ditto Takes Flight!! My thoughts on Wizard 101 so far…

On February 17th, 2010, a furry orange monster named Ditto started playing a game called Wizard 101.  The very first day of playing this fun and magical game, as part of the game’s own introduction, I met a very scary wizard named Malistaire, and since that day, through multiple worlds and 51 levels, my quest has been to track down this evil wizard and put a stop to his nefarious schemes! Ditto’s Video Bloggy Thingy – September 13th, 2011

So here is this week’s Video Bloggy Thingy.  Since I FINALLY made it to the Malistaire quest, I’ve been taking time to do other side quests as I plan my huge assault!  I did all of Wysteria, which was a lot of fun and really cute, I think it was a well written story and set of quests.  I also went back to Grizzleheim, which I hadn’t been to since I was level 26 or 30.  I was able to spend a bunch of time finishing quests and finally got to see the king, who of course gave me a super crazy and dangerous quest to take out a big bad grendel named Jotun.  Yikes.  I’ll be doing that soon too, maybe tonight… (more…)
