The Destiny Project – Week 4
With all the excitement around the Mega Sultan’s Palace, I honestly haven’t been playing Destiny as much as I’d like, but I did make it to level 12!
Better late than never – it’s new Carl!!
Sorry we were late, technical difficulties yesterday, but we’re back up and running with two new jokes from my trusty Camera-Bear, Carl. Enjoy!!
Minor Technical Difficulties….
Hey all,
I’m having some minor technical difficulties today, meaning that this weeks’ post for Carl and Destiny will be late and/or delayed until tomorrow – really sorry about that. Until then, here is a picture of a kitten and a tortoise.
Ditto Explores the Massive Sultan’s Palace!! First Report…
So your friendly neighborhood Orange Monster was fortunate enough to get a preview of the AMAZING new ‘Massive Sultan’s Palace’ and other items from the new wizard 101 ‘Mega Bundle’ game card that’s coming to stores s0on!
The bundle comes with not only the Sultan’s Palace, but also the new Flying Carpet Mount, a ‘Snake in a Basket’ pet, some amazing Sultan’s Robes, a random mini-game kiosk, and even more – I don’t have time for a full complete breakdown right this instant, but you WILL be getting a video tour of the place soon! In the meantime, here are some pictures I snapped of the Sultan’s Palace as I was doing my initial exploration. My initial thoughts are that the place is massive, it is absolutely beautiful, and is full of fun hidden secrets, like the hidden treasure room that contains a gold lamp with a real genie!! Of course there is a standard PvP ring, plus tons of room to garden an of course room for all your pets and mounts to roam free!
As I said, I’ll do a lot more on this soon, and I’m sure other websites will have stories up too, but I wanted to get some initial pictures and impressions out, because it is amazing!!
Check out an amazing game made by a five year old…
People have probably heard about this already, but it is SO cute!! ‘Sissy’s Magical Ponycorn Adventure’ was created by a five year old girl and her father at a recent Game Jam – all the character art and some voices were done by a 5 year old girl. I just had to share!!
New Video – Ditto’s Return to Crab Alley – Part 2
On this leg of the journey, Ditto must defeat Riverclaw Guards, which look a lot like Lovecraftian Deep Ones, so he can find the key to the White Tower and talk to Thomas Cromshell about the problems in Crab Alley
Quick Blooper Video… just for fun
Even monsters can get tongue-tied… here’s a blooper Carl caught on film as we were making videos the other day, I thought you might like it…
Ditto returns to Crab Alley – part 1
Ditto gets a summons to the Wizard City storm mill. It seems strange things are afoot at the Circle K… Ditto and Madame Jasmine investigate…
Ditto and more PvP
I do love PvP lately, and I’ve had a few requests for videos of me doing PvP, so here’s a fun one. This is me against another pyromancer, and I didn’t have any fire prisms in my deck (oversight on my part) – it was a great challenge! Did I win? You’ll have to watch to see!!
Happy Friday!! Carl tells a Wizard 101 joke!
Please note that I didn’t say a ‘good’ Wizard 101 Joke. He also tries to get intellectual and fails pretty spectacularly. Happy Friday!
Fiery Boom Shrooms – my new favorite plant!
So I’m back to gardening, rank 8, and I’m finally harvesting Firey boom shrooms! I love these plants – they’re adorable and they give some pretty amazing treasure cards. I’m regularly harvesting Earthquake, Tempest, and Firezilla, which are handy to have in a duel AND seem to sell pretty well in the bazaar as well if you catch it right.
The only downside to these shrooms are the pests they attract – I’ve had imps twice, I hated having to drop 25,000 gold to buy that fly swatter spell, and it drains half my energy to cast it, but other than that these things don’t take much care. A little magic, a little water, and they’re happy little exploding mushrooms.
So in other news I’ve got some new videos coming soon and, of course, tomorrow is another hilarious (OK, maybe not hilarious) set of jokes from Carl the camera-bear! Hope you enjoy!
Keep playing safe and I’ll see you in the spiral!

Weekly Video Bloggy Thingy 5/17/2011
So here is my video bloggy thingy for this week – it’s been very rainy, and furry monsters do not like rain, I get all wet and soggy… Anyway, this week I talk a little about the new Wizard 101 commercial, those very unsafe flying carpets (not even a seat belt!! Gasp!) facebook (speaking of unsafe things) and Carl says ‘thank you’…
It’s Friday – Here’s more Carl!
Carl the camera-bear has a couple more jokes to entertain and amuse…. Well, he’s trying really hard, in any case…
The Destiny Project, Week 3
I had a good week with Destiny – I made level 10, which got me Banshee, which is a great spell with decent damage, but doesn’t return any health, so I don’t know if it will make it’s way into my very limited deck.
At level 10 her health is 670 and mana is a whopping 34. That’s still rough, but not as bad as 22… Fights are still tough, I had a really hard time with wormguts in firecat alley, it took me a few tries to defeat him.
I haven’t chosen a secondary school yet – I’m not sure I will, due to the very limited deck space I’m working with. I’m still thinking about it, not sure what I’ll do yet. Opinions are welcome.
I did equip my piggle from the Pet Pavilion introductory quest -Madame Baxter. She doesn’t give me any advantages, she’s essentially cosmetic, so I don’t think she changes the rules of the experiment, and she’s cute, so I’m keeping her 🙂
I’m just about ready for Malistaire with Digby and I’ve got another project coming soon, so it might be slower going for a few weeks, but I’m going to make sure I play at least a few times a week and keep moving her forward. I’m really interested in this project and I’m excited to see how this works out, especially in Krokotopia and beyond.
Ditto versus the Crystal of Honor
In the epic adventure of the Knowledge Crystals, I have to face the Crystal of Honor, which is a duel with a really tricky Storm school boss. The fight is fun and really exciting, and I think it does a good job showing how strategy can work to defeat a superior opponent.
Video Bloggy Thingy for 5/11/2011
So here is my video bloggy thingy for May 11th – I missed doing one of these last week, I think because I was writing the Facebook safety article. Here is this weeks’ video, and don’t forget – Daring Adventures of Ditto celebrates 1 year tonight on Ravenwood Radio!! Don’t miss it!!
Ditto faces ‘The Crystal of Battle’
Still adventuring deep in Dragonspyre, Ditto needs to face the challenge of ‘the Crystal of Battle’, dueling a 4500 health Life boss (with the name ‘FireWinter’, so she sounds like a fire boss, very tricky’…)
It’s a good fight and goes pretty well for me overall… I’ve been playing around with enchanting my Helephant spells with ‘Monstrous’, adding a lot more damage to my attacks – I hit for 3381 in this fight, not too bad!
Happy Mother’s Day from Ditto!
Ditto wishes all mommys out there a very happy and wonderful Mother’s Day! Hope it is a wonderful one! And if you have a mommy, make sure you do something nice for her today!
It’s Friday – here’s Carl!
Now that the poll is over I can officially announce that, by and overwhelming two-thirds majority, people want more Jokes from Carl my camera-bear, even AFTER people heard a few of his jokes. Amazing.
So, since I promised Carl, I will post a joke (or two) from him every Friday, starting today with this winner… who knew bears were into science jokes?
The Destiny Project – Week 2
I didn’t get to play Destiny as much as I wanted this week, but I made it to level 8, which isn’t too bad. At Level 8 I now have 621 health, 30 mana, and I recently got Death Blade and Dream Shield spells.
My main strategy is still death trap + ghoul, and adding in death blade when I need it. Having the wand spells in the mix is somewhat inconvenient, because on my first turn, if I have no traps or blades I need to either pass or cast something weaker than ghoul. I might actually go without a wand – not sure if that’s allowed by the rules here though.
Fizzles are the worst, seriously. I seem to fizzle a lot more than I’m used to with no armor or gear to boost my base percentage. I also find myself second guessing some duels, like with Field Guards, which is a new thing for me – with my limited health (was 395, now up to 621 so not as bad) an elite storm opponent is nearing boss level danger, able to take me out with two well placed hits in some cases.
Lack of mana is still my biggest issue – I actually found myself with one mana left, desperately looking for a blue wisp before I got pulled into a duel.
I did finish the Storm Kraken quest, which was more chaotic than I remembered previously – I assume due to the growth of the game. There must have been twenty people crowded into that little island area waiting for the kraken to appear – I actually felt bad for the kraken, he didn’t stand a chance…
Ok, let’s talk about Facebook, shall we?
Facebook – love it or hate it, it has become the number one social network and is one of the most visited sites on the web. From Facebook’s own statistics:
* More than 500 million active users
* 50% of active users log on to Facebook in any given day
* The average user has 130 friends
* People spend over 700 billion minutes per month on Facebook
Needless to say, it’s a big part of many people’s online lives and even identities. I have over 300 friends and followers on Facebook myself, and I’ll admit, I only really ‘know’ about two dozen of them – the rest are all fans or followers of my blog, etc… (more…)
Ditto versus General Greystone…
Once again deep in the heart of Dragonspyre, I need to defeat ‘General Greystone’ and his Irate Banshee minion. Wonder what makes her so irate? Maybe it’s just a Dragonspyre thing…
The duel went well overall – I took out the Irate Banshee first, with a ‘monstrous’ buffed Helephant, and then focused on the General himself. For the general my winning hit was 4201 damage – not bad!
With the higher health levels in Dragonspyre I find that I’m not using Meteor Strike much at all, mostly using helephants and damage buffs against my opponents.
I do want to try to find an ice trap spell, then I can cast ice trap, fire prism, fire trap and increase damage even more.

The Tale of Tomar and Kimerith, a Happy Reunion
The grand finale of the tale of Tomar the dragonrider and his old friend Kimerith. After a bit of a blooper (Ditto did not pay attention to the quest details, oops…) Kimerith the Dragon is reunited with his old crazy shut-in friend Tomar. It’s really a touching scene… I feel all happy now 🙂
