As many friends and fans know, since my triumphant return from the all you can eat buffet I have put out a few new videos, but then started having technical issues… small at first, like the audio being weird, then I suddenly had a corrupt OS and needed a re-install, then finally I started getting random restarts and other bad things.
I got my trusty laptop looked at, and the news was dire; motherboard issue, not repairable, need a new motherboard (and let’s face it, I’m not under warrantee, so this means new laptop)
So that’s it – this isn’t ‘goodbye’, I hope, but making gaming video content requires a stable laptop that can run games and do recordings, etc…, and it will be a while before I can swing that, so for now I won’t be posting any new gaming videos. I might figure out some content to create with my phone, like the video here, but they likely won’t be gameplay vids… sorry about that.
To all my loyal friends and fans, I thank you for all your love and support over the years, you make this furry orange monster so happy!! I’ll still be on twitter and stuff, I won’t disappear completely, and hope to see you in the spiral again some day soon!!
First – I know that this quest isn’t called ‘three brothers’ and isn’t really anything close to that, and it doesn’t have anything to do with the Harry Potter Deathly Hallows story either, but after doing it, I just think of it as ‘Three Brothers Quest’ so that’s just what I’m going to call it, sorry.
Our story starts with Ditto lost, as usual, and just randomly following the yellow arrow and getting into a random and unexpected boss fight, and then talking to a blind mouse, and then there’s a story about a music box, and then I’m off and fighting!
I have to say, for a random side quest playing on the Three Blind Mice nursery rhyme, this whole set of quests was charming and fun, and the ultimate payoff was really sweet! The fights were all good but not overwhelming, and there were no annoying ‘kill 37 random things until they drop that one random item’ type quest components, which really annoy me.
Overall this was a fun little side quest with just enough excitement and a really good payoff. I hope you liked watching me play – please like and subscribe to the videos and feel free to drop me a note if you like –
Hi everybody! It’s Ditto the Monster, trying something new here… It’s great being back and making videos and interacting with fans again, I’m having such a great time with Wizard 101, but I’m looking to change things up a little, too – keep things interesting for the fans, and this is my first try.
You see, my great friend Chip did such a great job putting together the ‘Missing Ditto Monster’ project, I wanted to get him in front of the camera again. However, he’s quiet and he’s pretty shy, so I wanted to do something to make it more… interesting… So I got him to play a new game called ‘Perception’, which is both very unique – you play as a blind woman exploring a haunted house – and it’s actually pretty scary too. Of course, I did not tell Chip any of this, so all his reactions are completely genuine, the scares are real, and it might seem a little mean, but I think it’s really funny!
So what do people think? Should Chip play more of this very interesting game, scares and all? He’s not so sure about playing again, it’s a pretty so if people really want to see more, show Chip some likes and some positive comments to let him know that people are enjoying his videos and you want to see more! I hope everyone enjoys it and that you have fun with it too!
All week, Ditto has been exploring the fun and exciting Fantastic Voyage bundle for Wizard101! In the bundle you get a set of armor, the Abyssal Warriors’ suit, which looks great and has strong stats; you get the Eel Whip weapon, which I thought was going to be creepy because – eel – but it looks great and has some really good ‘May Cast’ spells on it. You also get a mechanical shark mount, which looks really cool, it’s a very unique looking mount (and I thought it was appropriate for Shark Week) and a Very adorable ‘Peppy Porpoise Pet’ – it’s so cute, just swimming along with you!
Thanks to everyone who answered my recent poll, it’s pretty clear you just like seeing Ditto doing his thing, questing and being silly, and I’m happy to do that! So here’s some questing and battling some deadly sandworms in Khrysalis! I’ll be pushing my way through Khrysalis and trying to get to the next world pretty soon, so stay tuned!!
It’s me, Ditto the Monster, back in Wizard101! Wow, this was a tough video to make, because the morning I was setting up to make it, my computer crashed, hard, likely due to a bad Windows update. It took me all day and into the next day to get it fixed, and in the end I had to re-install Windows, which meant I had to re-install all my software, including Wizard101 and my game recording / streaming software. OF COURSE once I got that installed, it would no longer work, so I fought with that for a while, then finally just decided to get something new and configure that, which did, finally, work!
So here it is – Ditto is now an outlaw! I’ve got the house, the cool green outfit, the bow, and I even get to ride a fox! It’s a nice set and a lot of fun – I did some fishing in my little forest stream after the video ended, that was cool too! I think Fishing might be too boring for gameplay videos, but it’s so relaxing…
Let me know what you think about the new video and tell me what you want to see in the future too – I’m all about communicating with my wonderful fans, so comment or send me a tweet or whatever… I’m looking forward to doing lots more here, now that I’m back! (And MAYBE I’ll be able to run some contests again soon, too!)
Apparently, while I was ‘gone’, KingsIsle came out with a new mobile game called EverClicker. It’s like a clicky kind of RPG with an exciting story (defeat the evil Star Devourer, oohhhh) and pretty fun play mechanic, clicking to defeat bad guys and upgrading your ‘team’ to deal more and more damage as the enemies get bigger and tougher, culminating in a pretty big boss fight every 5 levels.
It’s as simple as that, but it can be pretty complex too – there are multiple ways to upgrade your team, both temporarily with spells or special abilities, as well as permanently by summoning spirits or upgrading your feast hall! Gaining gold by defeating enemies or capturing what I’ve started to call ‘gold bugs’ that randomly fly across the screen seems to be the primary currency, and there are red gems that do… something? They seem to allow to reduce timers or purchase upgrade kits for your team, but not too much else?
Finally, there’s my favorite part of the game – time gates. They’re kind of like raids, I guess? You get pulled into some kind of alternate dimension and have to help a team defeat a bunch of bad guys as fast as you can, because the magic key can only blip you to the other dimension for like 30 seconds. I think it’s that timer and the friendly competition with other players that makes it so fun.
So there you have it – I know I’m late to the party on this and I’m probably missing a ton, but I’m really enjoying this game! It’s such fun, and like I said; very easy to play, but challenging if you like to maximize your effectiveness.
Do you play? How do you like it? Let me know any tips or tricks you might have, I’d love to hear from you!
So after my Chinese food induced absence, Ditto has returned to Wizard101 and started out easy, with the new Monstrology system. I think I am going to like this Monstrology thing – it seems quite fun, and I really like making houseguests!
I’m also looking for feedback – My pyromancer is level 100 now and I’ve been playing him for seven years now… should I keep playing him randomly like I’ve been doing, should I do something specific with him like specific quests or PVP, should I start a new character, etc… I’m adding a poll, so go ahead and vote or drop me a note, what interests people in gameplay videos?
At long last – a New Gameplay Video!
So after weeks of searching, it all came down to a small ‘All You Can Eat’ buffet in a strip mall on the outskirts of town… A buffet that seemed all too happy to be rid of the furry orange monster who had been eating them out of crab rangoons and fried rice for who knows how long…
As for the ‘why’… well, Ditto felt like people weren’t really ‘into’ his videos and silly antics any more, so he didn’t think anyone would even notice he was gone. Thanks to all his friends and fans and all the questions on Twitter and shared videos, etc…. he sees that he’s got a loyal following who do miss him and his crazy videos, so he’s planning on coming back… Sure he might not get the views and likes of some of the big gamer channels, but that’s not really the point; he just wants to make people happy and have fun, and that’s what he’ll be doing.
So the hunt for Ditto the Monster continues – tfollow up on that his week we’ve put up multiple ‘Have you seen this monster’ signs and interviewed a few more people, asking if they’ve seen Ditto.. the Miss Narrator interview didn’t go so well. Neither did Carl interviewing the cat. We DID get a lead, though, and we’ll follow up on that soon!
We do discuss Ditto’s history, how he started in February of 2010, interviewed Fred Howard of Kingsisle once, and other great things that Ditto has done…. It’s quite a lot, actually… We do miss him. Come back soon, Ditto
Recently, Ditto’s fans have been asking about him, about where he is, and what he’s up to lately… Well, we aren’t sure, exactly. You see, Ditto the Monster is kind of… missing. But don’t worry – Chip and Carl the Camera-bear are on the case and searching for him!
Chip and Carl will interview Ditto’s friends and some of his online pals and search high and low to find their furry friend!
If you miss Ditto too, let us know – tell us if you’re looking for him too, and if you’ve seen him. Let him know you miss his videos.
So once again Ditto has been offline longer than intended – full disclosure, I have bronchitis, so doing any recording (or anything more than, say, coughing a lot) has been problematic. Sorry about that – after everything else and my big lack of updates in 2016 in general (that was just the worst year, wasn’t it??) I really did make a promise to myself to give my fans at least a few videos a week, and I’ve had to backtrack on that a bit – I am sorry about that, but with the bronchitis I’ve had to rest a lot more. I’m sure you all understand….
I have still been playing Wizard101 a bunch and I’m still having a ton of fun, I really am!! I’m playing through Khrysalis (still – I know…) and I’m still getting back into the swing of things as far as the streaming goes, but I’m on the mend and will definitely be focusing on lots more streaming coming soon. I think I’m really going to focus on Wizard101 (and probably more Pirate101, since I do love the story there) but my experiments with other game streams did not go as well as I had hoped – I’m the Wizard101 monster, so I’m thinking I should focus on what I do best, right?? That makes sense, right?
Finally – my last video, which I think has some audio issues and a complete lack of focus because, as I said, bronchitis and such… I don’t know if I ever posted it anywhere so here it is… Not much there, but hey, it’s still fun, right?
So what else do people want to see? How can Ditto revitalize his channel once he comes back from all this? Thoughts? Ideas? Clever limericks?
Ditto is once again adventuring in the spiral, still working his way through Khrysalis (yes, two worlds behind right now… working on it) – This is an intense one with a big boss fight, against this crazy death moth boss monster…
I’m curious – is the Bloggy Thingy still needed? Just about all my content is YouTube and Twitch and Twitter, so people don’t really need to go through the blog to get my new stuff (and in fact the newest stuff is on Twitch and YouTube well before I post it here….) – I don’t get much in the way of comments or fan interaction here, so I’m wondering if there’s anything other than contests that people come here for? Leave a comment if there’s anything you come to the bloggy thingy for, and if there’s more that you’d like to see here? Non-video non-gameplay posts, anything like that??
So Alien Abduction is the story I’m sticking to… Totally true, that’s what happened, the end….
Here is a new gameplay video, with Ditto delving deep into Khrysalis, fighting monsters to get stinky stuff to get through spiderwebs… And then it got really crazy!! Thankfully I met up with a great pick up group who helped me in the intense battle for the Moon Gem… It was a lot of fun – I’m so glad to get back from my alien encounter so I can play again! The audio does get messed up in there a bit – I have some technical issues, but it’s not too bad…
I’ll be back on and streaming more, now that the aliens let me go, but I’m not sure what to do about The Daring Adventures of Ditto? I’ve been out of the game so long, I’m not even sure where to start but hey, if people are still interested I can probably get Miss Narrator out of cold storage and start putting together some all new daring adventures… Ditto’s Daring Adventures in the grocery store, daring adventures at the DMV, daring adventures eating pizza… could be fun, right?
Hey there! Yes I know I’ve been missing in action for a bit, but I did not want to miss my yearly tradition of reading my favorite holiday poem!!
So Ditto is still playing ‘Asheron’s Call’ a bit – it’s challenging, playing an MMORPG that started 17 years ago! There are a lot of things we kind of take for granted in modern online games that just don’t exist in Asheron’s Call, like quest guides and such… Today I just ran across the world in a random direction – no portals, no loading screens, just open landscape, mountains, rivers, and the occasional strange monster who wants to eat me; why do they always want to eat me?
I did find a town and talked to some folks, got to know the vendors, etc… – for such an old game, most people are very high level and I just made level 6, but the areas closest to the town seem appropriate to lower levels, so I didn’t get eaten (though it was close, I’ll admit).
So are my fans interested in more of this exploration? Do people want to see more old-school gaming in Asheron’s Call on a regular basis? Or should I just stick to Wizard101 and Pirate101 and do more adventuring there? I’m looking forward to getting feedback, what do my fans want to see more of? Let me know!
Ditto continues his introduction to the still fun Asheron’s Call – in this video we trek through a very creepy spooky dungeon full of murderous giant insects! The was very dark and the sounds – ew, those sounds when the weird bug doors opened and closed, I won’t soon forget those!
Ditto takes a ride in the wayback machine and plays an MMORPG that got started on November 2, 1999!! I’m pretty sure I’ve got fans and followers that weren’t even born when this game came out!
So this This is the very interesting character creation system, with a lot of very detailed character creation choices that feel more like old-school tabletop RPG character creation than a modern game, which was cool. This also has the first half of the game intro tutorial and that’s a lot of fun too… I have to say, this game is still pretty great, even though it’s been around for close to 20 years!!
I wasn’t sure if I would post all this, but I decided it had been long enough since I had posted anything that all my friends and fans deserved to know what really happened. I wasn’t going to go into real details, because I like to keep my blog very light and happy and friendly, but after thinking it over and after being offline so long, I decided I should just let people know what was up…
Back in the early summer Ditto started to not feel so good, and then started feeling worse, until I finally went to see my very nice doctor, and he checked a bunch of things, and then sent me to one of his other doctor friends, who checked a bunch of other things. They took x-rays and then put Ditto in a big machine, and did some more tests. It was really interesting, but a little scary too, I will admit, and I still wasn’t feeling very good.
Well, after all the tests, the doctors decided Ditto needed an operation, and that was pretty scary too, I have to admit. That finally happened about two weeks ago, and Ditto has been recovering, and I am happy to say I am feeling much better and I’m planning on getting back to streaming and posting videos very soon… This week, if everything goes as planned.
I wanted to thank everyone who has emailed me and has been checking up on me while I’ve been offline, it really means a lot to me, and I’m so lucky to have so many great friends and fans out there!!
Keep playing safe, and I’ll see you in the spiral!!
Since pretty much everyone in the world is playing the phenomenon known as Pokémon GO now – including Ditto – and if you were not aware, the game involves walking around in the real world, exploring areas and looking for Pokémon to capture. Since this is a LOT different than the typical games you play on your computer, Ditto wanted to talk a little bit about safety while playing this new game – it’s a REALLY fun game, but there are definitely more safety concerns around it than your typical MMO…
First, and the game tells you this pretty much every time you start it – always be aware of your surroundings! Pay attention to where you are walking and what is going on around you, and don’t walk around just staring down at your phone. Ditto doesn’t even look at his phone while he’s playing, unless he gets an alert that there is a Pokémon or Pokestop in his vicinity – the game will vibrate and give an audio alert when either of these things happen, so you won’t miss them even if you’re looking around you and not staring at your phone. If you are tracking an elusive Pokémon using the ‘footprints’ count in the nearby Pokémon system, just look every minute or so – the footprints count doesn’t change that rapidly, so you really don’t need to stare at it constantly to track the Pokémon.
So I know it has been a while since Ditto posted. First we had vacation, and now I’ll just be honest – the weather has been so perfect, I’ve been outside swimming and riding my bike and, lately, having fun with a whole new kind of game…
So Ditto took a little break, but I guess folks missed me, because the response to this contest was pretty overwhelming, with so many wizards and pirates welcoming me back with the nicest emails!! Well, I’m very happy to be back, for sure, and can’t wait to do lots more videos and have lots more fun in the Spiral and beyond!! Thanks to all who entered, it was great to get so many entries – here are the winners, all randomly chosen. Congratulations all!!
