Wizard 101

The Eel Cave – Ditto does not fight eels!!

Ok, so it’s been a few days longer than expected between posts – there’s a reason for that, and I’ll post about it soon, I promise.  In the meantime, here are two new videos of Ditto doing some quests for Rupert, who is still trapped underwater in a cage, yet instead of rescuing him, he has me going off and doing all kinds of crazy things. This crazy thing it finding some information in the Eel cave, which is VERY creepy, since you have to swim through a huge mouth and down a giant esophagus to get into the cave.  That’s not something you want to do too often…

Video 1 – Rupert gives Ditto his new task… and no, it’s not ‘Rescue me!’

Video 2 – Ditto works his way into the Eel cave and, to his pleasant surprise, realizes if he’s careful he doesn’t have to fight anything, just solve a puzzle.  Hooray for puzzles…

Ditto gathers coral (and fights!!)

Hey everybody – it’s been a few days, but Ditto is back in Celestia and this time, has to gather coral.  Of course, the coral is in a room full of bad guys, but if Ditto can be careful and not attract unwanted attention, this can be over quickly!  Of course when is Ditto ever stealthy or careful?  I’m immediately pulled into a fight against a fish and an eel – not as tough as the crustaceans, but still a solid fight!  Then there is a pretty terrible showing at Shock A Lock, and I finally get all my coral…  I’m still loving Celestia, I need to get more videos up soon!!

Ditto talks to Rupert….

Ditto has defeated many Crustaceans, and is back to rescue Rupert, one of the Marleybone adventurers who was trapped by the crustacean bad guys and is in a cage in The Grotto.  Of course instead of asking Ditto to rescue him, he is still obsessed with his research notes or something…  I’d like to rescue these guys some time soon!

Ditto versus those Crazy Clawcutters

Do you ever find yourself in a duel where you keep saying ‘Oh come ON, I can’t believe he just did that!’ over and over again?

So there I was, swimming around in the Grotto, trying to collect something or other from these terrifying Crustacean Clawcutters!  These fights are HARD – they toss out a wild bolt or tempest first turn, or a Stormzilla second turn!  I’m finding myself using a lot of glacial shields lately!  Thankfully, a good strong Fire Dragon with a Fire Blade is enough to take these guys out, so if I can survive the first few turns the fights are over pretty quick!  It’s really very exciting, I have to say!

Ditto fights underwater!

So here is my first true ‘underwater’ battle, and it was both very hard and kinda weird.  First of all, it was against two Storm school enemies, one of which was able to hit me for close to 900 points of damage FIRST TURN!  That is some amazing early damage, and was very scary!  Thankfully I was victorious, but wow these fights are using every bit of my skill, plus a little luck!

Also, I know I have not been posting as much – I have been pretty crazy busy lately, and it has been kind of tricky to play Wizard 101 and make fun posts – I’m going to try to get at least three posts a week out there, and hopefully more.  I think Carl will help too.

Ditto and the Underwater Breathing Machine – Part 2

So I have used the ancient and mystical Celestian ‘Underwater Breathing Machine’, which had a lot of pretty lights but hadn’t seemed to do much of anything…  And now I am supposed to trust that this has made me able to breathe underwater by entering ‘The Grotto’…  Seems kind of crazy, don’t you think?  Let’s see how it goes!

Ditto and the Underwater Breathing Machine, part 1…

So t has been a very busy few days for Ditto and I have not been able to post as much, but I am still having a very good time in Celestia.  Most recently, a scientific chap named Rutherford deciphered some Celestian text and discovered a device that would allow the user to breathe underwater.  This was pretty exciting, until I realized who he wanted the guinea pig to be… me!

Let’s see – completely untested ancient device that somehow modifies my biological structure to allow me to breathe underwater…  And the best part is that when it’s done working, I don’t feel any different!  Seriously?  So I walk through this mystical thingy and then just assume I can hop outside the protective dome and breathe OK at the bottom of the sea?  This sounds like a really bad idea – we’ll have to see how it goes!

Ditto versus some crabby guy…

Ditto has found the camp of Optio Agenor, a nasty looking Balance boss with an annoying Ice minion who were holding one of the explorers captive.  The fight was pretty intense, I can’t believe how hard these Celestian foes hit, it’s intense.  Oh, the boss also dropped a piece of the portal device I’m supposed to be looking for.  I’m really enjoying Celestia so far!

New Stuff…. Ditto in Celestia and back online

So thanks to a number of factors, including a freak pre-Halloween snowstorm you might have heard about, I haven’t been doing much online for the past few days.  I’m back now, thankfully, with lots more great Celestia videos and an all-new Daring Adventures of Ditto for tonight’s Ravenwood Radio, so I’m very excited!

There has been a huge announcement from Wizard 101 what I was only recently able to really read through.  This includes a new world, Zafaria, which is a great looking African-themed realm with lots of amazing looking new content. It also includes something I’m very excited about – Grub Guardian, a new tower defense styled mini game that will be available for web and soon for mobile iOS devices, that seems to allow players to level their pets from outside of the game.  I love tower defense games, and i love my pets, so I’m very excited for this particular news!

Of course for most people, the biggest news will be the new level cap increase, from 60 to 70, and of course new spells!!  I’ve seen the video and I was impressed by some of the new spells it showed.  I’m assuming the volcano is the new fire spell (can’t wait!!), and I saw a great looking Chimera (Myth?), a stampede of wooly mammoths (Ice!), A monster gnome (Bizarre!), an amazing earth-looking dragon (It crawled out of the earth, anyway)  and the coolest yet, Frankenstein!  I’m assuming that one is storm, with all the electricity and lightning flashing around.

http://www.ign.com/videos/2011/11/01/wizard-101-zafaria-world-unveil-trailer

I’m very excited for this new world, especially since I’m already in Celestia and doing really well!  I truly love the Celestian design and layout and architecture, and the quests are a lot of fun, with really challenging fights!  I’ve got a ton of videos that I’ll be putting out, since I just love Celestia so much and it’s been great to film me exploring there!!

Ditto finds a clue!

Ditto is searching for missing expedition members and has to track down a number of clues… where will these clues lead him and Madame Jasmine?  I do enjoy these non-combat research quests, because I get to explore the wonders of the undersea world without getting beat up too badly…

Ditto fixes the leaking dome!!

So after many duels (26 crustaceans defeated!) I finally retrieved the four bottles of sealant needed to stop the leaks in the dome!  It’s about time – the water was starting to get deep, and I’m not much of a swimmer!  I do hate it when my fur gets wet.  After getting all the required cans of sealant, I went to work plugging leaks!  It was exciting, and a lot more fun than getting hit by meteor strikes…

Ditto versus lots and lots of Crustacean Pincers.

Still exploring in Celestia, I am still fighting many, many Crustacean Pincers. They’re pretty stingy with the dome sealant I need to find to, you know, stop the dome from filling with water.  As I fight and defeat more and more pincers who do NOT drop sealant, I start to panic over the water that seems to be rising steadily…  I mean, these Marleybone explorers can do the doggy paddle, but me…

Sunday Special: A Tour of Ditto’s Houses…

I’ve been promising to this forever, and it’s finally here…  Of course it was completely unscripted and my houses are more or less undecorated, so it’s probably not the best tour ever, but I take you through my Fire Tower, including my mysterious Drake Hatchery; my beach hut with it’s hidden passageways; my Sultan’s Palace, with the beginnings of my festival grounds;  and finally my newest house, the amazing Sun Palace with it’s giant ape and hidden grotto!  They’re all connected by a portal network I put together, so I can pop back and forth between them.

I do need to start decorating – I’ve got lots of decorations, I just need take the time to organize them and put some themes together, like the Dragon Hatchery.

Ditto Explores Celestia – A ‘Spot of Bother’…

In my continued explorations of Celestia, I came upon an explorer from Marleybone who told me about a problem with the dome leaking.  You know, the big dome that keeps all the water out and the ‘being alive’ in?  Well, it seems that some of those nasty crustaceans had scampered away with all their sealant, so they couldn’t stop the leaks, and this was – in his own words – a ‘Spot of Bother’.  This measurement seems to be the equivalent of ‘A Peck of Trouble’ when measured on the Whedon scale.  So naturally, since Ditto is a kind and adventurous monster, I will help ou and try to keep the doggies from coming to a wet and mostly oxygen-free fate.  (more…)

Ditto in Celestia – the first duel!

Still getting my bearings in Celestia and I stumble across some nasty crustacean types, and it was definitely a more difficult fight than I was expecting.  My opponents were fire, naturally, and at rank 9 had a pretty high resistance to most of my tricks.  They were hitting me with some pretty big stuff too.  It wasn’t too bad, but it was tougher than I expected – keeps you on your toes, right? (more…)

Ditto exploring Celestia – Oh look, there’s a problem to solve…

So I was exploring more in Celestia and – what a shock – they’re having problems, issues with sabotage and researchers missing, and of course they need my help.  I should be use to this by now, of course, but let’s just think about it for a minute.  It’s a mysterious underwater world, and the explorers are dogs… how did anyone thing this was a good idea? Dogs in the desert is one thing (although if I remember Krokotopia correctly I think they had some issues there too), but underwater?  Really?  The wet fur smell alone would just be…  Oh never mind.

So once again the amazing Digby Hexcrater is asked to save the day, which I couldn’t be happier about – I can’t wait!

Just a quick sightseeing video, because Celestia just looks so amazing!

The Return of Destiny Hexcrafter

At long last, now that I have successfully vanquished Malistaire and am busy exploring the mysteries of Celestia, I have decided to start playing my special project, Destiny Hexcrafter, again.  For anyone who doesn’t know, Destiny is a Necromancer I’m playing who has no gear and no special robes – basically I’m playing her with the robes, wand, and spell deck she got from Headmaster Ambrose.  After playing Digby  for so long, going back to Destiny is very challenging, especially since between the gear and spells I have with Digby he’s practically a super hero.  (more…)

Ditto learns about the Astral Schools!

In his continued explorations of Celestia, Ditto comes across something very exciting – the Astral schools of magic!  That’s right, three brand new schools of magic to learn!!!  (Well, they were brand new a year ago, sure, maybe I’m a little late for the party… )   So join Ditto as he learns about Moon, Sun, Stars, green clovers, and blue diamonds…

New Video – More Celestia Exploration…

Celestia is still incredibly beautiful and awesome, and I’m still exploring a lot.  One strange thing – Prospector Zeke is here!  He really gets around – I think he’s a bit spooky when he does this..

Ditto Enters Celestia!!

Celestia was released about a year ago, in October 2010, and finally, in October 2011, I have made it into that amazing undersea world myself!  Wizard 101 for me has never been about being ‘first’ to do anything, so getting to Celestia a year after release is just fine for me, even preferable in some ways.

Paige Moonshade’s amazing Halloween Maze!!

Recently I was invited to explore a Halloween maze created by none other than the mistress of house decorating, Paige Moonshade!  For this maze she truly outdid herself!  It encompasses three big houses and her dorm room, a graveyard, many spooky creatures, ghostly plants, and some amazing scenes!  The goal is to make your way through the houses and spooky scenes by finding the next portal that takes you to the next area.  Paige has done a fantastic job of guiding you and blocking off certain areas to keep you on track, but she also makes sure it’s a fun maze, with tricks and turns and lots of great scenery!  I know I got turned around a few times!  (more…)

New Video – Ditto Defeats Malistaire – The Epilogue! #wizard101

With Malistaire defeated and The Spiral saved, Professor Drake opened a portal to Headmaster Ambrose’s office.  Now, when I saw this, my immediate question was ‘Why couldn’t he just do that to get INTO Malistaire’s chamber instead of battling like thirty bosses and big elite bad guys?’  It’s kind of like Gandalf showing up on that giant eagle to save Frodo and Sam at the end of Lord of the Rings – if he had the ability to do THAT the whole time, what not just fly INTO Mordor and drop the ring into Mt. Doom from like 10,000 feet?

ANYWAY, I got back to the Headmaster’s office and he was all thankful and told me how cool I was, gave me some vegan chocolate chip cookies (Headmaster Ambrose definitely seems like a vegan to me…) and then told me to take a well-deserved break and maybe even go to a few classes…The horror!! Not to worry though, because less than twenty seconds later, he hands me the key to Celestia and tells me there’s trouble afoot, and once again he needs my help.  Well, a Pyromancer’s work is never done, so coming up very soon…. Ditto goes to Celestia!!!

The Final Battle – Ditto Faces Malistaire!!

After working our way through The Great Spire and facing countless foes (Well, they weren’t that tough to count, but they were really hard to defeat!) we finally face Malistaire himself, and it was awesome!!

Malistaire’s brother, Professor Cyrus Drake, shows up with the spirit of Malistaire’s wife, Sylvia!  They try to talk him out of his mad scheme, but he won’t here of it, banishing them both with a wave of his hand!  It’s all up to us then, so with Fallon, James Lifecaller, and Elijah Lightthief at my side, we head in to face the dreaded master of dark magic and stop him from summoning the monstrous Dragon Titan.  (more…)
