Ditto searches for another Portal Piece and gets distracted
So after defeating Karolak and getting his portal piece, I returned to Leland (AKA ‘Mister Grumpy-Pants’) and learned that there was yet ANOTHER missing piece. Hot on the trail of this (hopefully final) missing piece, Ditto is distracted by a shiny object – in this case a Silver Chest. Shock-A-Lock time!!!
Ditto Faces Karolak again, and this time it’s personal…
This is Ditto’s second battle against Karolak Nightspinner, this was certainly one of the more difficult duels I’ve had lately, with a final health of only 24 points when I finally defeat the wicked fire boss.
The fight is one of my least favorite types, a fire boss (so I need prisms) with a typically tower-shield happy ice minion. It is certainly touch and go but, happily, I avoid yet another all-expenses paid trip to base camp…
Karolak Nightspinner is such a meany…
After fighting a whole bunch of bad guys to find Karolak’s special amulet, wouldn’t you know it, instead of thanking Ditto, he attacks! That’s isn’t very nice at all, now is it? Taken somewhat by surprise, Ditto doesn’t fare well in this battle.. but it is a good fight!
Introducing Chip! Meet Ditto’s new best friend!
Well, I’ve been hinting at it all week, and he’s finally here! My friend Chip! He’s a little shy, but he’s happy to meet everyone! He’ll be helping me out with my bloggy thingy in the future! Say hello, he’ll be glad to hear from people!
Ditto is searching for a mysterious medallion
While seeking out the elusive last portal piece, Ditto is sent to find a mysterious medallion – which just happens to be on the ground right outside of the building he was in – certainly not very difficult to find! Of course, like most things in Ditto’s world, there is a catch… Why is there always a catch?
Ditto is learning interesting things about Celestia…
Adventuring in Celestia and searching for the elusive final piece of the portal, I meet Alaric Moonsunder and Karolac Nightspinner, two ancient and ghostly celestian warriors, once mortal enemies, now just dudes hanging out looking all pale and see-through.
I love these quests that delve deeper into the history and backstory of the words of The Spiral – there’s such a rich mythology that’s been created for this seemingly simple game, I really enjoy it. I should write more about it some day.
Ditto searching for Portal Pieces
So after talking to Leland in Stormriven – or as I like to call him, ‘Mister Grumpypants’ – it turns out that those portal pieces that I’ve been tripping over for the past several quests are actually important, and he needed me to go collect them. I gathered them up, and of course there was one missing – there’s always one missing, is there? So we have to go find some other guy to tell us where the last portal piece is… think it will require a battle?
Ditto questions Celestian engineering principals…
After fixing the Celestian Generator, it turns out that to complete the process I had to throw a master switch. Of course the master switch was actually outside the dome for some reason, and much like the breakers in Jurassic Park, was protected by a huge shark warrior. I mean, really? Talk about bad design… First they make the power crystals shiny and apparently edible, then they hide the power generator, then they put the main power switch outside the dome itself so you need to know how to breathe underwater to get to it. Must have made normal maintenance a nightmare.
This was a pretty tough fight, and it was close right up until the end – I think it’s a good example of how staying cool under a tough situation can save the day. Or it just shows that I’m incredibly lucky. Either way, Ditto wins 🙂
Ditto fixes the generator
Ditto is apparently very handy, for after defeating many, many, many, many Celestian Revenants, I found enough power crystals to fix the generator! It wasn’t all that hard to fix, but somehow even underwater and working with alien technology, I got grease in my fur. How does that happen??
Oh, I find a Silver Chest and play Shock a Lock, too – that’s so fun!
I really did have to defeat somewhere around 30 of those revenants to get the gems needed to complete the quest – it wasn’t hard, as they fell fast before my awesome pyromancers’ power, but it’s just a little annoying. Kind of a pet peeve.
Ditto makes Master Artisan!
I usually do crafting quests when I’m stuck at a place I want to record for the video blog, but don’t have the time to do that. I don’t pay too much attention to my progress, to be honest, so it was a pretty big surprise when I realized I had completed the quests to become Master Artisan! Luckily I realized it in time to set up the camera – this is one I wanted to record!
The crafting quests are all pretty similar, and I’m sure now that we have the ability to transmute, these quests are much easier than they were previously. Finding 24 nightshade is a bit harder than buying a few dozen deep mushrooms and transmuting them, obviously.
I’m really happy I’ve made it this far, and I love some of the recipes that have opened up for me! I think I’m going to make a new bed now – the little standard beds are just too small and boring in my big houses 🙂
Ditto’s Video Bloggy Thingy – March 6th
Hello everyone! Another new Video Bloggy Thingy from Ditto! I talk about Twitter and The Oscars and of course Wizard 101, plus I give my big Pax East announcement! Yay Pax!!
Ditto hears weird music, heads to Stormriven
After completing all quests in The Floating Land, Ditto heads back down to the undersea domes of Celestia – hearing strange music as he travels down that dark undersea elevator…
Once he delivers the submarine parts to Peter Benchleys’ niece, it’s off to Stormriven for more exciting adventure… That sounds so nice and friendly – not!
And in Stormriven I need to defeat these Celestian revenant ghost thingys and collect something from them – once again this seems like a ‘1 chance in 20’ drop rate, as after 5 or 6 battles (they start to blend together) I’ve yet to collect a single quest item! I do understand game mechanics that extend people’s play time, but this is absolutely my least favorite!!
New Video – Ditto hits Level 56! #wizard101
While finishing up in The Floating Land, I was talking to one of the lovely water moles turning in a quest when – Ta Daaa! – I level up to 56! It’s so rare that I catch a level up while I’m filming, I was very excited! I like the end of the water moles quest, too – they’re so cute and fuzzy…
Ditto Versus the Soul Tearer
Getting towards the end of The Floating Land series of quests, I have to light a torch, which then summons a nasty Rank 10 boss monster named Soul Tearer. For once why can’t I fight someone like ‘Cute Bunny’ or ‘Tickle Monster’… Anyway, facing down this Rank 10 Life Boss and his Rank 9 fire minion was a tough fight, but I had help when Chris Lionflower ported in and started casting some major life damage. I was pretty low on life, but I finally defeated the boss with a well placed Helephant… So now I just have to talk to those nice water moles and get the submarine parts back down to the base…
Video for Malistaire’s Lament! As heard on The Daring Adventures of Ditto and Ravenwood Radio!
I have gotten so much great feedback from this song, and had so many people ask me for an MP3 of it, that I wanted to do something fun and new with it, something I had never tried before, so I created a video for the song!! I used cuts from the original Malistaire commercial for Wizard101 and some parts of the Malistaire battle cutscene. I hope people like it – I really like how it came out!
The MP3 is also available here:
Lyrics: (To the tune of ‘Jack’s Lament’ from Nightmare Before Christmas)
There are few who deny at what I do I am the best, my dark magic is renowned far and wide.
When it comes to surprises in the dragonspyre night, I excel without ever really trying,
With the slightest little effort of my death school charms,
I have seen grown kroks give out a shriek!
With the wave of my hand and a well placed spell,
I have swept the best of wizards off their feet…
But year after year it’s the same routine,
and I grow so wearing of the sound of screams…
I tire of this role, if they only understood,
I’d give it all up if I only could….
Ditto and Madame Jasmine search for lost dock workers!
While exploring deep in the jungles of the mysterious Floating Land, Ditto gets an urgent summons! It seems that some of the Marleybone dock workers are lost in the deep jungle, so Ditto and Madame Jasmine need to go search for them and help them get back. I won’t even make a joke about Marleybonians and trees…
So far the floating Land is really exciting, but I’d love to get back down below and keep exploring the lost civilization of Celestia… Its so beautiful and cool down there. Hopefully I’ll be able to find those submersible parts soon!!
Ditto the Medicine Man
After defeating many crazy water moles, the water mole chief tells me that there are even more water moles getting sick, and if we don’t do something quick they will go crazy as well. Of course in this case ‘we’ means ‘me’, so I head over to talk to a waterfall to get some medicine. Man, these water moles need better health care…
Thanks from Ditto – Second Wizardversary Party!!
Wow what a night!! First of all, thank you EVERYONE who came out to my two year wizardversary party last night. There were so many people there – I have no idea how many, but at one point in the night there were separate groups doing things in all five of the main houses, people were messaging me from the ‘secret’ Dragonspyre fortress house, and both PVP rings were full. I actually had to move from house to house fairly regularly because it looked like the houses were getting so full it wouldn’t let people port – especially in the Sultan’s Palace, where one of the biggest PVP parties ended up. There was constant PVP going on there for at least three hours – I ended up going to bed a little after 11pm with several houses still full of guests!
Special thanks goes to Paige Moonshade, who helped me out with one of the hide and seek games and who was a major inspiration for my major decorating spree (Most of those houses were completely undecorated as of a week ago…) , and of course thanks to my friends at Ravenwood Radio, Fallon and Stephen and IcyWiz, who helped to spread the word about the party.
If I didn’t get to talk to some people last night, I do apologize – I had no idea how many people were going to show up, and I was pretty busy the whole night. Feedback from people has been great, and I’m so glad everyone had a good time.
Finally, for the winners of the Kirin Mounts I’d like to apologize – some the codes I sent out seem to be faulty, though I’m not sure why – the Kirin I was riding last night came from the same list of codes, so I know they worked a few days ago. I’m working on the issue now and should be able to fix it soon. I’ll notify the winners when I have more information. Again, sorry about that.
So thank you again, and I hope to do this again soon!! (But not TOO soon… need time to recover!!!)
New Video – Ditto’s Party Prep, Day 3 – Ditto Decorates #wizard101
I’m still working on preparing for my big Second Wizardversary party and I figured I actually needed to do some decorating – I’m not very good at it, but I really like doing it, it’s fun. I’ve got lots of different areas decorated in different, interesting themes. I’ve got hidden jungle ruins, a drake hatchery, a spooky ritual room, and even a whole hidden house! I’ve put in a fun (at least I hope it’s fun) adventure trail, using portals to send people to different interesting and hidden places to explore.
So this video is way less exciting than I imagined it would be – I’m still not sure why I felt this would be exciting or interesting, really – but here is a quick video of me decorating my Island Getaway hut. It’s not anywhere near Paige Moonshade levels of decorating, but it’s fun, and that’s what’s important!
Ditto is helping the Water Moles
So ditto was helping the Water Moles on the Floating Land, and he gathered some food for them – mostly pie. Well they were so happy with their pie, they had another task for Ditto – but this task had nothing to do with pie! It wasn’t even related to pastry in general! No – Ditto had to find crazy water moles and defeat them! And how can you tell which ones are the crazy Water Moles? Well, they’re the ones talking to themselves and humming the theme to ‘I Love Lucy’…
Ditto on the Beach, and who is this guy?
After fighting all those big wildclaw things, Ditto heads back to the beach to talk to the quy who sent him out there, because he really can’t remember what he was fighting them for…
Ditto faces Wildcrag in the Ruined Villiage
After my narrow defeat of Bristleclaw, I went to find his buddy Wildcrag, to see if reason and diplomacy could still prevail. Unfortunately, Wildcrag immediately tried to eat me – these floating land folks are kind of mean! This fight was even more intense than the Bristleclaw fight, and I’m glad I chose to put a few shields and pixie cards in my deck – I’m pretty sure the only reason I survived this one was that I got lucky and got a critical heal when I needed it most. Overall a great fight…
