Ditto’s Interview with Fred Howard of KingsIsle at Pax East
Once in a while in a monsters life, really really awesome things happen. For me, that was getting the opportunity to go to Pax East, an amazing gaming convention in Boston that was huge and really mind-blowing in so many ways!
Just going to Pax East would have certainly been enough for me, sure, but the thing that pushed my weekend completely over the top was an opportunity to sit down with none other than Fred Howard, the Vice President of Marketing from KingsIsle. And not just shaking hands for a quick photo op in the KI booth, either – no way! Fred actually took the time to sit down with Miss Narrator and myself and answer a number of questions, including some questions posted by you, my readers, about the game!
I was so nervous! I’m just a simple Fabricated American, it was a lot for me to take in, but Fred was great, and he even said he was nervous about meeting ME – can you believe it? I really appreciate him taking the time to sit with us!

A fantastic interview. Fred Howard seems like such a nice man, who clearly loves Wizard101, and appreciates Wizard101 fans. I learned so much, Ditto. Thomas Deathgem’s question “Where do the Holiday NPCs go when they aren’t in Wizard City?” is brilliant. I laughed at the “lightbulb turns on over Fred’s head” moment (at 5:21). Seeing him imagine a mechanical mount was precious! He so clearly wants one … like we do! I love that so much about the KingsIsle staff … they love the game as much as we do!
Ditto, you again brought smiles and joy to Wizard101 fans. Your selection of questions and your light-hearted (but I DO want to know) manner is perfect.

ditto one question will there be levels 70? i hope there is it should be called epic or legendray master and start with 3 or 4 power pips in late levels unlike 2.

That was amazing Ditto, I am very excited about what is going on next in wizard101, I think the next world is going to be very exciting and challanging, I like that idea about the robot mounts, and the thing i’m the most excited about seeing is the new spells. It be awesome if they made a spell of you heh heh.

I want to personally thank Ditto and his support staff for meeting with me at PAX [you know what they say… behind every great monster are a few great people :-)]. It was without a doubt one of the most enjoyable interviews of the day. I also want to personally thank him for bringing such a great perspective to the Wizard101 community. Awesome interview! So excited for what’s coming up on Wizard 101 can’t wait to see the new things like spells and the new world,I love the robot mount idea very cool! I wish kingsisle let most wizards pick weather they want to wear a hat or not. and change their apperence when wanted such as face texture or so.

would love to see two pets at the wizards side, would like to see some levy pets and mounts, would like to see more hybird possibilties for different and rare pets. every pet mixed with something should beable to make some kind of weird mutate, also on rare occasion when crossed the pet should inherit both its parent cards. So a pet could occasionally end up having both cards. Would be awsome.

Wizard101 is awesome! It’s the only MMO I’ve ever liked, and I recommend it to all ages- I am 24, a level 41 balance mage, and a total kid at heart. 🙂

W101 is the coolest game ever! I know its hard to believe but I have bought over 500$ worth of crowns. I have 3 lvl 60 wizards and 3 lvl 40+ wizards. W101 is a great inspiration to others. I have bought a w101 shirt and It is my favorite shirt ever! Wizard101 can never get old. KI makes so many things that you have too many things to do! I love w101!!! Ditto you monster! You rocked (like usual)!!!!!!!!!!! Ditto I am a huge fan btw. U amaze me!! Your questions were very smart and unique. I really hope that we get mechanical mounts. Fred Howard seems like a nice person. He is totally into the idea with the mechanical mounts. The thing I like about him is that he is into today, not like those 200yr old parents that think today is still the 70’s. My room has w101 posters and has all these T-shirts all over it. I have advertised it to all my friends and so far 25 have joined. (That means I have gotten a ton of crowns) Wizard101 still inspires me today. I will keep playing all my life and never give up hope for improvements. Your rock Kingsisle!!! Keep up the Amazing work!

I wish i could meet Fred. He sounds so amazing. One thing if i would ask him is: “Where did you get the topic for Wizard101?”
Btw, Wizard101 help improve my spelling in school. School is very important to me and so is Wizard101.
Also, Why are people quitting? Why would you join if your gonna quit later on? Thats how we loose population on Wizard101.
Wizard101 has helped me by raise my grades on my report card by: Spelling, proper nouns, and many other things!
Wizard101 is the greatest thing ever. Its better than Rune Scape.

I hope wizard 101 can create more awesome spells, I am level 34 now, and from time to time I have to purchase a “partner” to help me to fight some boss, but even so they ” partner” are level 7 players, but their attack wasn’t that impressive, Therefore, I hope there can me more impressive spells for us to learn,

KI should try to have Chinese New Year Holiday in W101 with all the firework and stuff.
Try some holidays that comes from Japan since there is a Mooshu world based on Japan culture.

Could you let players use both crowns and gold to buy an item? Not just using gold or crowns only to buy an item, but use both at the same time to buy an item from crowns shop.
Oh and one idea for the mount: heck hound!!!!

Is the game ever going to let players trade items not just treasure cards. Since the game often gives items a player cannot use it would be nice to be able to trade items as well as gold cards.

Hmm… If in the interview (I THINK), if the holiday or unique characters (such as Selena Gomez) travel throughout the spiral, would one of those characters reapear in Wintertusk? Also, Im hoping that some day there will be a spiral world that represents life (like mooshu, but very different from it). I wish there was (WAY off topic and never ‘gonna happen) invasions towards houses every now and then, like depending on your rank, a certain lvl enemy/enemies would appear at your house, and if your away from home, you will get a notification; also guardians can be purchased by special merchants throughout the spiral (sort of like gardening merchants. Like the best seeds and tools are located at celestia) such as a firecat, or a collosus; or maybe your pets’ abilities could be used while placed at home to defend or defeat enemies. Like I said, this is no way going to become a feature, but, if someday it is, I thank Kingsisle for it 😀
