Ditto is still having fun with Asheron’s Call

So Ditto is still playing ‘Asheron’s Call’ a bit – it’s challenging, playing an MMORPG that started 17 years ago!  There are a lot of things we kind of take for granted in modern online games that just don’t exist in Asheron’s Call, like quest guides and such…  Today I just ran across the world in a random direction – no portals, no loading screens, just open landscape, mountains, rivers, and the occasional strange monster who wants to eat me; why do they always want to eat me?

I did find a town and talked to some folks, got to know the vendors, etc… – for such an old game, most people are very high level and I just made level 6, but the areas closest to the town seem appropriate to lower levels, so I didn’t get eaten (though it was close, I’ll admit).

So are my fans interested in more of this exploration?   Do people want to see more old-school gaming in Asheron’s Call on a regular basis?  Or should I just stick to Wizard101 and Pirate101 and do more adventuring there?  I’m looking forward to getting feedback, what do my fans want to see more of?  Let me know!

New Gameplay – More Asheron’s Call fun!

Ditto continues his introduction to the still fun Asheron’s Call – in this video we trek through a very creepy spooky dungeon full of murderous giant insects!  The was very dark and the sounds – ew, those sounds when the weird bug doors opened and closed, I won’t soon forget those!

New Gameplay Video – Ditto plays Asheron’s Call! Old School Gaming Fun!

Ditto takes a ride in the wayback machine and plays an MMORPG that got started on November 2, 1999!!  I’m pretty sure I’ve got fans and followers that weren’t even born when this game came out!

So this This is the very interesting character creation system, with a lot of very detailed character creation choices that feel more like old-school tabletop RPG character creation than a modern game, which was cool.  This also has the first half of the game intro tutorial and that’s a lot of fun too…  I have to say, this game is still pretty great, even though it’s been around for close to 20 years!!

So where has Ditto been for so long?

I wasn’t sure if I would post all this, but I decided it had been long enough since I had posted anything that all my friends and fans deserved to know what really happened.  I wasn’t going to go into real details, because I like to keep my blog very light and happy and friendly, but after thinking it over and after being offline so long, I decided I should just let people know what was up…

Back in the early summer Ditto started to not feel so good, and then started feeling worse, until I finally went to see my very nice doctor, and he checked a bunch of things, and then sent me to one of his other doctor friends, who checked a bunch of other things.  They took x-rays and then put Ditto in a big machine, and did some more tests.  It was really interesting, but a little scary too, I will admit, and I still wasn’t feeling very good.

Well, after all the tests, the doctors decided Ditto needed an operation, and that was pretty scary too, I have to admit.  That finally happened about two weeks ago, and Ditto has been recovering, and I am happy to say I am feeling much better and I’m planning on getting back to streaming and posting videos very soon…  This week, if everything goes as planned.

I wanted to thank everyone who has emailed me and has been checking up on me while I’ve been offline, it really means a lot to me, and I’m so lucky to have so many great friends and fans out there!!

Keep playing safe, and I’ll see you in the spiral!!

Playing Safe with Pokemon GO!

Since pretty much everyone in the world is playing the phenomenon known as Pokémon GO now – including Ditto – and if you were not aware, the game involves walking around in the real world, exploring areas and looking for Pokémon to capture. Since this is a LOT different than the typical games you play on your computer, Ditto wanted to talk a little bit about safety while playing this new game – it’s a REALLY fun game, but there are definitely more safety concerns around it than your typical MMO…

First, and the game tells you this pretty much every time you start it – always be aware of your surroundings!  Pay attention to where you are walking and what is going on around you, and don’t walk around just staring down at your phone.  Ditto doesn’t even look at his phone while he’s playing, unless he gets an alert that there is a Pokémon or Pokestop in his vicinity – the game will vibrate and give an audio alert when either of these things happen, so you won’t miss them even if you’re looking around you and not staring at your phone.  If you are tracking an elusive Pokémon using the ‘footprints’ count in the nearby Pokémon system, just look every minute or so – the footprints count doesn’t change that rapidly, so you really don’t need to stare at it constantly to track the Pokémon.
